A notice for our elementary parents – Dearborn Public Schools has moved the half day for elementary students originally scheduled for Nov. 6 up to Oct. 30.
Teachers will use the afternoon that day to get grades ready for report cards. The first marking period ends on Oct. 30 for all grades this year. A Google calendar with our most up to date days is always available on the district website on the home page and on our calendar page.

Tomorrow, October 15th, is the first day for my In Person Learning Labs.
A schedule was shared with your child and is in their planners.
I will be seeing students in small group every day. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, these sessions will be via zoom. Please have your child log into our zoom meeting link at their designated group time; these sessions will be tailored to students individual needs. Students must be on time.
For Thursday and Friday sessions, we will be meeting in person at River Oaks. Transportation will NOT be provided.
If your child is scheduled in a Thursday/Friday group and is not able to attend please let me know so I can make the necessary changes.
Here are the steps you need to know:
Make sure you check your child’s temperature and they have no symptoms. Please check the screener below.
2.Make sure your child is wearing a mask, they will be wearing it for the whole time.
3.You will drop your child off at the bus loop. I will be standing outside to pick up and drop off your child. Please make sure to be on time because I have different groups. If you are late, your child will be at the door in front of the office.
4.Have your child bring their notebook and pencil. NO food or drinks allowed
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Wednesday is count day. Make sure your child attends the morning and afternoon live sessions. If your child needs to be absent, please call the office at 313-827-6750.
We’ve started learning labs (small group readings) this week from 1:55-3:50. I meet with 3 groups a day to work on additional reading skills and strategies. I met with your child last Friday and had them write their schedule in the planner. It is VERY important to come to groups on time because I will start promptly.
Monday through Wednesday learning lab is online via Zoom. Thursday and Friday is in person at River Oaks. Since Friday is a half day, there will be NO learning labs that afternoon. All teachers will have training and students will not attend afternoon zoom sessions.
I would like to push the in person learning labs to next week to better prepare for the students especially since Friday is a half day. So for this week only, learning labs will be all virtual via Zoom.
Please make sure to check the school blog and fill out the covid screener before bringing your child to school. By next Wednesday, I will send a detailed expectations and procedure on how to drop off and pick up your child safely from school.
I know other teachers have started learning labs since Monday but my in person days are Thursday and Friday. Again, since Friday is a half day and there are no learning labs. It doesn’t make sense to bring them in one day for 30 minutes.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Enjoy your evening and with your family and loved ones ❤️
I had a met with every student today about next week group meetings. Please check their planners on pages 32 & 33. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be on Zoom and Thursday and Friday will be in person. It will be in perso, unless the district decides to close learning labs again, then I will meet with them on Zoom.
Please check your child’s planner and see their scheduled meetings. If you are not comfortable with the in person meetings, let me know but your child will miss the opportunity for instructional support with the teacher those days. Not every child will come to in-person learning lab. But everyone will get a chance every week to meet with me either on Zoom or in-person.
I will send more instructions on Wednesday about the in person expectations and how to stay safe.
