Hello parents,
I hope everyone enjoyed their long break. It was nice spending quality time with my family but I did miss my students as well. The class got a chance in the morning to tell us what they did during the break, lots of fun events (even just staying in pjs all day)!
We will continue working on module 3 for math on multiplication and division. If your child is still struggling, I suggest more practice of the skip counting. I am sending strips home with the skip counting facts from 2-9, not including 5. This is a much efficient strategy than just memorizing facts.
We are starting a new science unit on climate and weather which is so much fun! Have your child check the weather and temperature daily so they can observe and feel what it means to be 30 degrees or 10 degrees.
Please remember to send your child with a winter jacket, gloves, hats and boots for outdoor recess. Unless it is raining/snowing or very low temperature, students will go out for recess.
In our class, we do most our teaching whole group and small group. With whole group, students sit on the carpet to be closer to the board and be more attentive. With that said, we do some writing and note taking as we listen and participate through the lessons. To make this process more comfortable, there are lap trays that students can put on the floor to write on verses using the floor. I saw some at Micheal’s for $7 each which will cost me about $147 for a class set. If anyone would like to purchase a few trays for the class, we would be thankful. They don’t ship so you will have to pick up from the store. I will share the link with you, if you are interested. Even if we don’t get a class set, anything can help. Thank you for your support! There is a 30% coupon that you can use too! I will post a picture on the story if you can’t open the link.
Thank you again,
Mrs. Attia
