Weekly Reminders

Hello parents,

Tomorrow students will be able to purchase books from the book fair. Please make sure to include tax when you send the money. The book fair will also be open during open house on Thursday. There will be a letter going home explaining this in details.

I sent a spelling/HW notebook yesterday. Students should practice their spelling words daily at home. The notebook should stay home during the week and brought back Friday.

Make sure students are doing ONE lesson a day for math. Sometimes the packet is due Monday and sometimes other days. It depends when is the last lesson taught. Use the homework helper as a guide. The homework is the same as the lesson taught in class. Yes, we started multiplication in third grade 🙂 Have students practice skip counting by 2’s and 3’s.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hope to see you all at open house on Thursday 🙂

-Mrs. Attia

Final message….

Hello parents,

A final message from me, a poem that brought tears to my eyes. Enjoy your summer with your child and hope to see you next year.

I’ve worked with your flower,

And helped it to grow.

I’m returning it now,

But I want you to know…

This flower is precious,

As dear as can be.

Love it, take care of it,

And you will see…

A bright new bloom,

With every day.

It grew and blossomed

In such a wonderful way.

In September just a bud,

January, a bloom;

Now a lovely blossom

I’m returning in June.

Remember, this flower,

As dear as can be,

Though rightfully yours,

Part will always be with me.

End of School Year Information……

Dear parents,

I can’t believe the year is almost over! It is a bitter-sweet moment when the school year is wrapping up. It was a pleasure working with you and your child. I am proud of the hard work your child has achieved this year. Remember, every year will get harder. It is important to show your child the importance of school and the reasons why. It is never too early to start talking about future goals. If you would like to send me a message with some pros and cons for this year that would be great! As an educator, I like to reflect on my teaching and communication. Any feedback will allow me to grow as a teacher and person 🙂

Just a few reminders for the upcoming weeks:

-NWEA testing will be completed by Friday May 31st. I just have a few students to make up that were absent.

-This will be the last week for spelling test and the test will be Friday, May 31st.

– Science study guide will go home Wednesday and the test will be Thursday May 30th.

-Homework from now until the last day of school is reading for 30 minutes and working on math facts. IXL is a great resource to use as well.

-The following week: June 3, 4 and 5 will be off. School resumes June 6. It is important that your child attends school until the very last day. We will continue teaching until the last day.

-Field day is June 10th and if it rains, the make-up will be June 12th. We NEED parent volunteers. If you would like to volunteer let me know or call Ms. Sandi at 313-827-6750. For field day, students don’t need lunches because the school will provide lunch. Make sure students are dressed according to weather. Students need to bring a bag with a change of clothes and towel, in case they get too wet from the water activities.

-The last day of school will be Friday, June 14th which is a half day. Dismissal is at 11:45. If you are traveling earlier than June 14th, please let me or the office know.

-3rd grade team decided to send summer packets so students can maintain their learning stamina. Students will bring a folder filled with many scholastic magazines to read and answer comprehension questions. In addition, we sent a math packet with a calendar of daily activities. Students will receive a plastic sleeve and erasable marker so they can practice their fluency on multiplication and division. Since the students made so much growth, we didn’t want them to regress (back slide) with their multiplication facts. As you know, this is a lifetime skill that needs to be mastered! Taking your child to the library to check out books is another activity.

-I will deactivate classdojo on the last day of school. If you have any questions and would like to contact me, please email me at attiaz@dearbornschools.org .

Thank you for being a great support for your child’s learning and enjoy the summer break 🙂

Sincerely,

Mrs. Attia

You will get your child’s results in the mail to show if your child is proficient or not.

-NWEA testing will be May 13th

-Please make sure your child is doing their nightly reading and spelling

-There is no math homework from Monday until Wednesday. Your child does have the homework for Thursday and Friday so do not work on it until Thursday.

– Students can practice on MSTEP using the dearbornschools.org website, click on student portal under home, click on MSTEP, click on mstep online tools training, click on sample item sets, grade 3 then they have the option of ELA or Math. I have showed them how to get this page at school.

-In addition to reading, spelling, and math homework. It is crucial to work on multiplication facts especially using the strategy of skip-counting. Our goal is to have ALL students learn the facts for mastery.
