Join us to celebrate healthy living and learn about helping young children develop predictable routines. 

Children, Parents and Staff will sing, play and engage in activities together from 8:45-10:00am.

Care Packages for the Homeless

In the spirit of giving back this November River Oaks School wants to help the homeless in our area. How we want to do this is by creating care packages filled with everyday essentials, but we can’t do it without your HELP!

We are asking each grade to bring in items to complete our Care Packages:

Kindergarten: Adult Socks

1st Grade: Travel Size Tissues

2nd Grade: Travel Size Toothpaste & Toothbrush

3rd Grade: Adult Gloves

4th Grade: Travel Size Deodorant

5TH Grade: 8oz Water & Granola bars

Each grade with the most donations by November 22nd, 2019 will win a Pizza Party provided by the PTA.

Please help us reach our goal of 200 bags!

Hello parents,

I sent the conference forms with your child please sign that you can make it on that date/time. If you have other children at River Oaks, the teachers  tried coordinating close times. Because of high numbers, it is very hard to make up a conference on a different date/time. 

Thank you for your consideration.

Students had their math study guides since Thursday, the test will be on 

Monday.

Also, the fire safety house field trip will be Monday 11-4 from 12:30-2:30. If you would like to join us, please meet us at the firehouse at 12:30. It will most likely be about an hour.

Hello parents,

Some weekly updates:

The first marking period is ending soon therefore a lot of units are finishing up and that’s when we test.

-I sent home the science test, please sign and return.
-We have a math quiz on Wednesday 10-23, your child has the study guide. Have them study tonight and tomorrow.

-Friday I am sending the Social Studies study guide, students can study on the weekend and Monday. The test will be on Tuesday 10-29. I typed out the study guide to make it easier for students and parents to study together. The test will be online and I will give you a parent letter that has your child’s grade. The test consists of multiple choice and written responses. The written responses will be typed on the computer.

-Spelling word pattern is -er: summer, mother, sister, barber, lumber, liter, milliliter, movement, minerals, adapt

-Next week dates: 10-30 Trunk or Treat from 5:00-6:00, 10-31 Halloween Parade starting at 2:15 to parade through neighborhood. If it is rainy then a new parade route and time will be shared next week. If you would like to send treats for the class, we have 27 students.

Hello parents,

Just a friendly reminder to check your child’s homework daily. Also, checking Classdojo daily. You can turn on notifications so you will get a message when I post something.

Students have math homework and reading 30 min. everyday. If you have access to a computer or ipad, have them practice on Zearn and IXL. Epic works on weekdays because it is a free school program. Have your child skip count by 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9’s. This will help their multiplication skills.

I have uploaded Eureka math video that can assist with homework. Check my blog for that 🙂

Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, is statewide Count Day for Michigan public schools. Count Day is when public schools tally the number of students attending their schools. Count information is critical to districts because each student translates into state funding.

Please be sure to send your child to school tomorrow October 2nd. 

Hello parents,

Today your child will bring the math study guide for module 1. The test will be on Thursday so they have a few days to study. The study guide is similar to the test but different numbers. They will have math homework Tuesday and Wednesday for lesson 20 and 21.

Today I am sending book bags home, please make sure your child is reading daily for 30 min. Some book have questions on the bag that you can ask for comprehension questions. I am also send a key chain that has username and passwords for zearn (to practice extra math) and IXL.

Hello parents,

I sent the math mid-module quiz and spelling test home with the students today. Please go over the math quiz and the feedback I’ve written on the test. Also, you can have your child redo the question on a seperate paper. Then please sign the math quiz and return tomorrow.

Wednesday is late start, school starts at 9:35. Also, it is picture day 🙂

The homework packet is due Monday, make sure students are doing a lesson a day. Some days we combine lessons, like today we did lesson 12 and 13. So they can do both homeworks today. Always have them try their best especially if they are struggling with reading. You can help them read the problem but not solve it for them.
