Reminders for Week 12-3

Hello parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

We will continue working on module 3 for math on multiplication and division. If your child is still struggling, I suggest more practice of the skip counting. I am sending strips home with the skip counting facts from 2-9, not including 5. This is a much efficient strategy than just memorizing facts.

I will send the module 3 study guide on Tuesday and the test will be on Friday. It is important to study the study guide which has a similar format to the test but with different numbers.

We are started a new science unit on climate and weather. We talked about air and how it changes. We also talked about the water cycle. This week we will focus on the question: Where do clouds come from? Have your child check the weather and temperature daily so they can observe and feel what it means to be 30 degrees or 10 degrees.

For writing, we are working towards our final draft on one of the three fires tribe. Students will publish their writing via google classroom.

For ELA, we are working on Main idea and details which is a difficult strategy for many students. IXL has lots of questions that students can use for additional practice.

Please remember to send your child with a winter jacket, gloves, hats and boots for outdoor recess. Unless it is raining/snowing or very low temperature, students will go out for recess.

Just a friendly reminder for the lap tray. I know they are available at Micheal’s for $7 each which will cost me about $147 for a class set. If anyone would like to purchase a few trays for the class, we would be thankful. They don’t ship so you will have to pick up from the store. I will share the link with you, if you are interested. Even if we don’t get a class set, anything can help. Thank you for your support! There is a 30% coupon that you can use too! I will post a picture on the story if you can’t open the link.
