IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR 2-3-21- WIDA STATE TESTING

Hello Parents and Students,

The WIDA testing window has opened and it will be in-person which means your child will come to River Oaks for testing. WIDA is a state test for ESL students which means another language other than English is spoken at home. This test assesses your child’s ability to use the English language for listening, reading, writing and speaking. If your child is testing this year, that means they have taken this test before. 

The 3rd grade testing dates will be February 3rd from 9:00-11:30 and February 9th from 9:00-11:15.  There will be no more than 8 students per classroom. Masks are required and they will be social distanced. 

There is NO Live sessions on Wednesday, February 3rd from 9:00-11:30. 

There will be LIVE session in the afternoon at 12:25-1:00 and math reteach from 1:00-1:30. Learning Labs will be the same.  

The following students will go to RIver Oaks from 9:00-11:30. Make sure you have a mask on.

I will be standing outside the doors where Ms. Talluto, Ms. Chancey and Ms. Fowler’s hallway is.

No School Monday

Hello parents and students,

A friendly reminder that there is NO school on Monday, January 18th for Dr. Martin Luther King’s Day. 

I will see everyone on Tuesday 🙂 

NWEA Reading on Wednesday (1-13-21)

Hello parents and students,

Wednesday we are doing our reading NWEA. We will start our testing after we complete our math study guide on Wednesday. We will test until lunch time, anyone that is not done, will stay logged on at 1:00 after our social studies lesson to complete their test. 

Learning labs are CANCELLED on Wednesday to make-up for NWEA. 


On Tuesday, I will have students practice logging in and entering their session name and password so it is smoother on Wednesday.

 
In order to be ready tomorrow and Wednesday please read the following:

1. Please log in on time. 

2. Please have headphones for your child, if needed.

 3. Please remind your child that they must do the test on their OWN. 4. Log into https://test.mapnwea.org orthey can click on the link found on schoology called NWEA Student Log-in

6. If you are still confused, there are two videos under the How-To Folder that can help you. They are “How to allow pop-ups for NWEA Testing” and “NWEA Device Readiness”. 

No LIVE Session Monday (1-11-2021) Morning ONLY, LIVE Session Starts at 12:25

Hello Parents and Students,

I will NOT be doing LIVE session Monday morning (1-11-2021). I have recorded the math and reading lessons for the morning. These videos will be found under Week 18 folder. Then click the Monday folder. Under the Monday folder, there will be 2 folders: Math and Benchmark/Reading. Make sure your child watches the videos and completes assignments.

Do the following steps: 

1. Go to schoology and click on Week 18 Folder 

2. Click on the Monday Folder 

3. Please click on the first page under Monday folder to listen to the directions for the morning.

4. Click on Math to watch lesson and complete assignments 

5. Take a 10 minute break 

6. Click on Benchmark to watch 3 videos and complete assignments. 

7. Have lunch at 11:45-12:20

8. Log-in at 12:20, I will be LIVE at 12:25 to do S.S and Learning Labs. 

Be a Responsible 3rd grader and finish all your assignments independently!!

Important Parent Meeting

Hello parents,

There is an important parent meeting with Mr. Martin on Wednesday, January 6th at 2:30 via Zoom. Parent attendance is highly encouraged. Due to the importance of this meeting, any students who are not able to come to learning labs because you need their Chromebook and/or Zoom login will be excused.
