Monthly Archives: October 2020

Reminders and Upcoming Dates

Hello families,

Tomorrow (10-30-2020) is a half day. Students will report for the morning and be released after our math activity. There will be no learning labs or specials in the afternoon. They have independent work to complete on their own: spelling test, recording themselves reading the poem, S.S discussion and math exit ticket.

Tomorrow is also our Costume Guessing Game. Please see Schoology for details. We will start right at 9am with our guessing. Make sure students start the morning with their video off if they are going to participate. Our day will not follow our normal schedule.

PLEASE NOTE:

**Monday (11-2-2020) will be all asynchronous (or pre-recorded lessons). There will be NO ZOOM on Monday. Students should work in their Schoology folder to watch their lessons and complete their work. They will still be expected to complete assignments there. There will be no learning labs on Monday either.

**Tuesday, (11-3-2020) there is no school.

**Report cards are due Friday (10-30-2020). I will reach out to you, sometime in the upcoming weeks about scheduling virtual conferences. Details coming soon….

As always, thank you so much for all your support, hard work, and flexibility. I always say I have such a wonderful classroom family. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind regards,

Mrs. Attia

Food Truck Information/ Grades on Schoology

Hello parents,

Here is just some information I would like to share.

Tomorrow is our first mobile food pantry.  It will begin at 11:30.  Mrs. Debbie is sending a robo call tonight too to remind parents.

Also, please make sure to check your child’s “Gradebook” in Schoology. Most assignments are re-submittable if there were errors in the original submission. The Gradebook will show the comments that I make on their graded work and allow you to fix them. It will also show which assignments your child has not turned in yet.

October 30th is a HALF DAY.

A notice for our elementary parents – Dearborn Public Schools has moved the half day for elementary students originally scheduled for Nov. 6 up to Oct. 30.

Teachers will use the afternoon that day to get grades ready for report cards.  The first marking period ends on Oct. 30 for all grades this year. A Google calendar with our most up to date days is always available on the district website on the home page and on our calendar page.

In-Person Learning Labs CANCELLED until Further Notice!!!

Hello parents,

If you didn’t hear my announcement earlier, the district has decided that in person learning labs will be inactive effective today.

This means that students will not be coming in to school due to the rise in covid rates and an increase in cases.

I will still be holding sessions virtually on Zoom.

FREE TUTORING!!!

GVSU is providing tutoring for students at no cost.

All that the parent/guardian needs to do is fill out a consent form and schedule a tutoring session based on subject and time.

All tutors have to fill out an application, pass a background check, and participate in an orientation and training.

In-Person Learning Labs

Hello parents and students,

Tomorrow, October 15th, is the first day for my In Person Learning Labs.

A schedule was shared with your child and is in their planners.

I will be seeing students in small group every day. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,  these sessions will be via zoom. Please have your child log into our zoom meeting link at their designated group time; these sessions will be tailored to students individual needs. Students must be on time.

For Thursday and Friday sessions, we will be meeting in person at River Oaks. Transportation will NOT be provided.

If your child is scheduled in a Thursday/Friday group and is not able to attend please let me know so I can make the necessary changes.

Here are the steps you need to know:

  1. Make sure you check your child’s temperature and they have no symptoms. Please check the screener below.

2.Make sure your child is wearing a mask, they will be wearing it for the whole time.

3.You will drop your child off at the bus loop. I will be standing outside to pick up and drop off your child. Please make sure to be on time because I have different groups. If you are late, your child will be at the  door in front of the office.

4.Have your child bring their notebook and pencil. NO food or drinks allowed

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Thank you,

Mrs. Attia
