Reminders for Week 2-24-20

Hello parents,

I hope you enjoyed the break! We are back to learning!

Some reminders/updates:

-For Daily 5, we are working on context clues. Which means when a student reaches a word they don’t know, they can look for clues in the text to find the meaning of the unknown word. They can practice this skill on IXL under Vocabulary F.F. There are 3 skills to work on. Once mastered, they can go up to 4th grade or if they are struggling back to 2nd.

-For math, we will be doing lesson 14 through 18. Lessons 19 and 20 are extra but please have your child complete it for extra practice. They can try their best. The packet is due Monday 3-2-20.

-For social studies, we are learning how Michigan was being developed based on the economic activities of farming, mining, lumbering and manufacturing.

-For writing, we are writing opinion/descriptive pieces using the book “The Best Part of Me”. Each student chose what is their best part of them and why.

-Please make sure your child is reading daily for at least 30 min. Remember RAZ kids is an AMAZING resource that should not be forgotten.

-If you have any questions, please let me know 🙂

Reminders for Week 2-3

Hello parents,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Some reminders for this week:

-Today we are starting a new unit for ELA which context clues. It is a fun way of learning reading by being detectives. Students always reach words that they don’t know and usually skip it. I will show them how to look and use clues around the words to figure out the meaning.

-For math, we are continuing to work on fractions. This is a looong module but worth every lesson. Use IXL as an additional support for fractions. This week’s homework will be lessons 7-11. The packet will be due Monday.

-For science, we completed the weather and climate unit. We will pause on science and continue social studies. I graded the science test and passed it out. Please sign the test and return.

-For Social Studies, we are starting a new unit about Michigan Growth.

-For Writing, we are continuing our personal narratives. We are in the drafting stage.

-Wednesday is Late Start. Schools starts at 9:35 am. Breakfast is 9:10.

-Thursday is the Roller Skate Night. Tickets are $6 per person that is skating. $7 at the door. It is a new location and you don’t want to miss the fun!!

-100th day of school is Thursday. Your child can dress as an old person. I wonder what I will wear 🙂

If you have any questions, please let me know 🙂
