Weekly Reminders 1-20-2020

Hello parents,

Even with a short week we have A LOT of things to do!

Some reminders:

-We are completing math projects based on area. Next week we will start module 5 which is fractions.

-There is no spelling for this week. We are working on NWEA and DRA (reading level) tests. For ELA, we are continuing main idea and details. IXL is a great resources to practice language art skills. Look for the starred skills. Also, RAZ kids is great for reading! If done correctly, students will be exposed to the book at least 3 times for listening, reading and going back to check comprehension during the quiz.

-For science, we are continuing to learn about weather and climate. Next week, will be our test. I will send study guide home next week.

-For writing, we will continue our personal narrative which is a story about a small moment in our life. It is important to write as much as reading. Having a journal and writing what they did for the day can be helpful. If you need notebooks, let me know.

-School events:

-Winterfest is next week and you don’t want to miss it! It is the yellow flyer and if you need another one, let me know. It is $20 per family to enjoy many games at school. There will be prizes and raffle at the end of the event.

-River Oaks will do cultural Night for the first time! We didn’t get many forms back and hoping we get more. You don’t have to represent your country. You can explore and research a new country that you are interested in. Create a poster or display to show off during the exhibit. There will also be a fashion show to show the cultural wear. If you want to do something for entertainment and perform in front of the school, call Ms. Sandi. If you are stuck and need ideas, let me know and I can help. It is important to teach our kids about diversity and about different cultures. It will be an event you don’t want to miss!

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know 🙂
