Reminders for Week 12-16

Hello parents,

I can’t believe 2019 is almost over!

A few notes:

-For math, we started module 4 which is all about area and how it relates to multiplication.

-For writing, we are researching information about the history of gingerbread and starting to draft soon.

-For science and social studies, we are holding off this week because of the break. After the break, we will start our science unit Weather Climate which is one of my favorite units to teach.

-We will be reading scholastic magazine and tie it in with our ELA which is finding the main idea and details.

-Wednesday 12-18 is late start, school starts at 9:35

-Thursday 12-19 is 1st and 2nd grade concert at 2:00

-Friday we will have our holiday party to celebrate our hard work the past months. Our party will be from 1:50-2:25 then we have music at 2:30. I will be ordering pizza and watching a short movie. If you would like to bring any treats for the class, we have 26 students.

During the break, make sure your child is reading daily. I will change their books this week but don’t forget to use RAZ kids and IXL (work on starred skills) as resources because I can keep track of their progress. This is also a great opportunity to practice skip counting and mastering multiplication facts.

Enjoy your long break 🙂
