Reminders for Week 11-25

Hello parents,

I can’t believe it’s end of November. Enjoy the long week! It is always a good time to spend with family and friends.

There will be no spelling this week. For math, they will do lesson 15 and tomorrow lesson 16. I told the students to take advantage of this break and practice/master skip counting by 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, & 9. Working on IXL and reading from RAZ kids.

Every student got a RAZ kids account so they can use at home too. It is a reading program that has lots of books based on THEIR reading level. I put in their reading level and gave them assignments. Once students log-in they click on level up, there are 3 tasks for them to do for each book. They need to listen, read and answer questions for a book to be completed. If you have any questions, please let me know. I would also like to know if it works on an Ipad? If you don’t have a computer, going to a public library would be beneficial for your child.

Enjoy the long break 🙂

Hello parents,

Here are the weekly reminders/updates:

Today we will be make-up conferences from 4:00-7:00. Please be on time 🙂

For math, we have Lesson 8 H.W for Monday. Tuesday I am sending a mid-module review/study guide. Wednesday we will have a quiz. Thursday Lesson 12 H.W and Friday Lesson 13 and 14.

For Writing, we are working on our opinion pieces, Should dogs work or not? The students are so engaged in this topic and have a lot to say!

For ELA, we are working on recounting (retelling) stories that have a central message or moral lesson. We will test on Tuesday and see if we can move on to a new skill 🙂 There isn’t a study guide for ELA, it’s what we do in class and daily reading groups.

For Social studies, we are learning about the history of Michigan. Last week, we talked about the first people of Michigan which were the Anishnibak. We talked about the importance of traditional stories (legends) and culture. We watched a powwow which you can find on youtube. This week, we will be learning about the fur trade and how Britain came to Michigan.

Please make sure your child is reading 20-30 min. daily. Practice skip counting by 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 &9. Also, going on IXL working on starred skills.

If you have any questions, please let me know 🙂

Reminders for Week 11-4

Hello parents,

I sent the conference forms with your child please sign that you can make it on that date/time. If you have other children at River Oaks, the teachers  tried coordinating close times. Because of high numbers, it is very hard to make up a conference on a different date/time.

Thank you for your consideration.

Students had their math study guides since Thursday, the test will be on

Monday.

Also, the fire safety house field trip will be Monday 11-4 from 12:30-2:30. If you would like to join us, please meet us at the firehouse at 12:30. It will most likely be about an hour.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs. Attia
