Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences
Conferences begin this week and continue next week. Parents, please make sure your child comes with you to conferences. We have talked about learning expectations frequently in the classroom. This will continue at conferences so students can get information from parents and me on how to improve for our 2nd card marking.
Veteran’s Day
We had a GREAT learning experience yesterday, reading about the history of Veteran’s Day and all of the branches of the military.
Look for the Veteran’s Day Links (right side of this page) to get more information on the history of some of the memorials, monuments, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Thank you to ALL who have served!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The past two week have been super busy with the students – closing up units, finishing assessments, and getting ready for two weeks off.
Six of our classmates donated their ponytails to the program “Children with Hair Loss” during our Holiday Sing. ‘Ana Flanery, Victoria Irish, Olivia Lash, Erin Moran, Ysabelle Rios, and Kate Roman – what a wonderful gift you gave other children! I am so proud of each of you!
Thank you to two of our homeroom moms, Mrs. Kris Flanery and Mrs. Amy Roman, for putting together a fun filled party for us! We decorated the large Christmas tree out front with peanut butter and bird seed pine cones and other snacks for the birds and squirrels. We also had a nice table of snacks and treats. Thank you, again, Mrs. Flanery and Mrs. Roman! (Pictures will be posted soon!)
A very special thank you to all my students and their families who generously gave me gifts on Friday! I am humbled by your thoughtfulness and generosity. I appreciate your kindness more than you know – I feel very fortunate being your 5th grade teacher!
I hope each of you enjoy your break from school relaxing and making wonderful memories with family and friends. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
“Phases of the Moon” questions
The diagram referred to on the worksheet as “diagram A” was on my teacher’s worksheets. Please tell your child to not worry about answering the questions that reference “Diagram A” – they can answer then on Monday when I put the image on the Promethean board.
I apologize for the confusion this may have caused!
