Just further clarification … students do NOT need to purchase any books. These are suggested books appropriate for 5th grade. Additionally, MyOn.com is free for Dearborn students. (Each child has their own account and access to the books online there.)

Upcoming Conferences, Math Quiz and Science Quiz
Several parents still need to schedule conferences. If you are one of them, your child brought home a note. Please read, respond, and return it tomorrow. Thank you!
We are having a math quiz tomorrow on angles, triangles, and quadrangles/quadrilaterals. There is a science quiz on section 1, pages F2 – F15. Students wrote down focus areas in their planners.
Math Review Needed Please
Parents and Guardians, Some of the most recent homework in math has been for students to read and take notes on angles, quadrangles, and quadrilaterals. Students have been reminded daily to review the characteristics of these shapes. Many students still do not know them to the 5th grade expectations. Please work with them to learn these characteristics. We will be having a quiz on Friday. Additionally, we will be taking a “warm-up” quiz tomorrow (Thursday).
Angle Practice
Many of the students are still struggling with vocabulary and angle identification. Students need to practice, practice, practice! In addition to reading and studying from their Student Reference Book, here are some websites to assist:

Happy New School Year! We have our first week under our belts and we are on our way to a great school year! I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year working with you and your child in 5th grade at Howard Elementary.
