Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a very nice holiday weekend. For many of you, it wasn’t only Memorial Weekend, it was also the end of Ramadan. I hope you experienced a nice celebration. As I posted yesterday, we will have our class meeting earlier today, at 10:30 a.m., because I need to take care of things at school.

Important: Materials PickUp/Return Thursday Afternoon
This Thursday afternoon, students need to come to Howard to pick up materials and return materials (for my class – Treasures book, Wayside chapter book, instruments for Mrs. Hartrick). I will be setting up individual BBB (virtual) meetings with students NEXT week to “see” their Science journals and Math workbooks. Please see post on Howard blog: https://howard.dearbornschools.org/2020/05/25/distribution-of-student-belongings-and-returning-of-school-belongings-on-5-28-1130-230-pm/
Tuesday BBB Meeting
I have to take care of things at Howard tomorrow, so our meeting will be at 10:30-11 instead of at 11.
5th Grade Parent Committee Announcement
The 5th grade parent committee would like to create a memory video for the kids to be able to always look back and remember their wonderful time at Howard Elementary School. Please send in 5-10 pictures of your 5th grader during their time at Howard Elementary. They can be pictures from Kindergarten through 5th grade. They must be school related (class parties, after school activities, school events, PTA events, field trips, etc..) They may be individual or group pictures. We are trying to make it fair so each kid is represented an equal amount of times. If you have already emailed pictures and have sent in more then 5-10 we will randomly choose which ones go in. If that is not ok please re email which ones you prefer. We are trying to use at least a couple individual pictures of each child and many group pictures. Remember not all photos will be used. Please send in these pictures by Friday, May 29th to this email Howard5thGradePromo2020@gmail.com If they are late they may not be in the video. Thank you! If you have any questions please text Nasreen Hider 313-598-1166

T.G.I.F! and Happy Memorial Weekend! No new online learning assigned per Dr. Maleyko, Superintendent. Perhaps you need to catch up on things? It would be responsible of you to look through your Google Classroom assignments and take care of those assignments these 4 days “off.”
Anything that was returned to you needs to be resubmitted. Again, this is following our district guidelines. If you submit work, you do not automatically get “credit.” I have returned some assignments that do not follow the directions or do not meet expectations. If you choose to not fix and resubmit them, that is your choice and your score will be marked accordingly.
Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Memorial Day is celebrated to honor and remember all of the men and women who died fighting for our country. These men and women dedicated their lives so we can be a free nation. Bow your head in respect, gratitude, and honor to those brave Americans!

Happy Friday Eve! Did you get outside yesterday to enjoy the weather? It was BEAUTIFUL! Even better than the weather … I got to visit with my dad! My mom had a doctor’s appointment and I needed to take care of my dad while she was gone. We had a very nice visit. We chatted, walked outside, and caught up on life events. It was just what we both needed. Hug and appreciate your parents today.

Online Work Expectations
Parents – If your child “submits/turns in” online work, that is not a guarantee they will get credit. PLEASE have them read the directions carefully. Perhaps read the directions with them. They need to meet the requirements of the assignment to get credit. I have returned assignments to some students who are putting nonsense answers on their Google documents and their parents wonder why. Why – Because I taught your child for 7 months and know their ability. If they are turning in nonsense, it will get returned to them until they fix their work and resubmit it. I am going to continue to follow the Dearborn Schools’ Guidelines on this point. Please understand and respect that. Thank you

Happy Wednesday! Hopefully today is the beginning of some very nice weather for us around here. Mid-Michigan is going through major difficulties from all the rain – several dams broke and that triggered incredible flooding and destruction. It’s so very heartbreaking for those affected in those areas.

Happy Tuesday! Has it stopped raining where you are yet? It is STILL raining (drizzling) around here. I could use some sun today. The governor is slowing lifting restrictions for people to be out and about in the state of Michigan – hooray! However – still be cautious. YOU may not be in danger, but someone else might have compromised health.
