🎉🙂 First Week 🙂🎉

Posted by Ann Albertson on September 9, 2017 in Class News |

We did a great job with our first week as 5th graders! We have reviewed many of Howard Elementary’s expectations and guidelines and are doing really well following and meeting them. Additionally, we have started some content lessons and work. Starting next week, we will take the NWEA assessments. There is no studying or preparation to do for these assessments. We will also try to start more of a routine and schedule with our content lessons.

In addition to the NWEA assessments, our busy week also has the PTA picnic on Tuesday and Open House on Thursday.

I look forward to seeing many old friends and meeting new ones!

Perspective

Parents,

Please know that I will be following the Dearborn Schools Content and Expectations for our lessons. However, for me, this is as important as any learning in Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies:

Welcome Back!

Posted by Ann Albertson on September 5, 2017 in Class News |

We had a great 1st morning in room 4! The children were so excited – their enthusiasm is heartwarming and infectious.

Regarding school supplies – some were distributed by me, and a list was copied down in their planner. If you could get that taken care of by next Monday, it would be appreciated. Any extra supplies that you purchased can either be kept at home or returned.

We will be working on expectations and procedures this week. Please remind your student to follow the three … Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe.

If you aren’t sure about something, please send me a quick email. I will respond within 24 hours.

Coming Soon … Welcome Back!

Posted by Ann Albertson on August 24, 2017 in Class News |

Happy August Everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable summer with family, friends, or however makes you happy.

If I am fortunate to be your child’s teacher for 2017-2018, please click on the “Classroom Supplies” link in the above tab if you wanted to get a head start on supplies. Please do not rush out and by anything though. We have plenty of time still.

I have been busy getting our NEW room set up. Instead of being in room 3, I will now be in room 4 which is the former preschool room. I look forward to creating lots of memories and having great new learning in room 4 with your child.

Take care deep breath, relax, and remember this is only 5th grade.

I am very excited … we are going to have a great year!

Our 1st Social Studies Unit is about many of the explorers. What a great way to experience what one of our explorers might have gone through.

Happy Summer Vacation!

Posted by Ann Albertson on June 16, 2017 in Class News |

Here we are at another end of a school year. While I am like most teachers in looking forward to summer vacation, saying goodbye to your children is one of the most difficult things for me. Now that they will be in middle school, I don’t get to give them a high-five, smile, or hug in the hallway. Yes, I care deeply about them. We have been together for 6+ hours each day for 180 days (give or take). It’s hard to say goodbye to so many special souls.

I hope the lessons they have learned have helped strengthen their foundations. I hope they always work to their potential. I hope they realize how many opportunities they have. I hope they always have hope.

A special thanks to Mrs. Nicole Miller for being my homeroom mom this year. We have many great memories thanks to your hard work and efforts!

To all students and parents, thank you for making this another memorable school year! Please keep in touch … XO

Drivers/Chaperones STILL Needed

Posted by Ann Albertson on June 13, 2017 in Class News |

While another parent has volunteered to drive and chaperone on Thursday, we STILL need a couple more parents for the Rolling Hills Water Park field trip.

If we do not get enough drivers/chaperones, the trip will unfortunately be canceled for our class.

Drivers and Chaperones Needed

Posted by Ann Albertson on June 12, 2017 in Class News |

We need several more parents to volunteer to drive and chaperone for the Rolling Hills Water Park field trip. We only have 2 so far and that isn’t nearly enough. If we do not get enough drivers/chaperones, we will not be able to go.
