Field Trip Fun and Kindness
The students and chaperones had a great time at the Henry Ford Museum this past Wednesday. Our first stop was the amazing Pixar exhibit, then we enjoyed lunch together, and the afternoon was spent touring rest of the museum. Thank you to the volunteers who gave up their day to drive and chaperone the students – it is greatly appreciated! Many photos were taken – they will be posted here this weekend.
A very kind parent brought a coffee to me after school Thursday in anticipation of the extended work day with parent/teacher/student conferences in the evening. The kindness continued on Friday morning with 4 hot coffees brought in by caring students and parents. You made my heart smile! I truly appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness!
Field Trip Today
Please remember to pack a lunch for your 5th grader today (and you if you are a parent accompanying us) for our field trip to the Henry Ford Museum.
Volunteer chaperones – thank you for taking the time today to assist with this. See you at 8:45 a.m.
“Cans for a Cause” November 6th – 20th
Howard Elementary is working with Yogurtopia and Gleaners to collect non-perishable food items for families in need during the Holiday Season. Students should bring items to class starting this Monday, November 6th. All items will be donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank. The class that collects the most items will receive a $5.00 gift card for each student and a visit from Miley the friendly Yogurtopia mascot.
Please donate generously! Here is the flyer: Cans-for-a-Cause
S.S. Assessment, Science Quiz, and Field Trip
The district assessment for Unit 2 will be on Thursday. Students should review tonight and tomorrow. There are a few questions we will finish correcting/discussing tomorrow on that.
We will have a Science quiz on matter on Friday.
Field trip permission slips and money are due tomorrow. We need parents to drive and chaperone or else the trip will be canceled for us.
Unit 3 Math Test
The Math Unit 3 Assessment will be tomorrow.
It will assess the geometry ideas we have been working on: triangles (different types, characteristics, and classifying them), quadrilaterals (different types, characteristics, and classifying them), and angles (different types, characteristics, classifying & measuring them).
Instrumental Music with Miss Hilborn
Miss Hilborn has created a blog for any students participating in instrumental music.
Please sign up: Miss Hilborn’s Instrumental Blog
Miss Hilborn sent out these reminders: It is expected that all students will bring their required instruments, books and accessories on their day, otherwise they have lost an entire week of instruction. Forgetting an instrument will result in a loss of participation points for instrumental music and students.
Unit 3 Assessment
The Math Unit 3 Assessment will likely be Thursday of this week. It will assess the geometry ideas we have been working on: triangles (different types, characteristics, and classifying them), quadrilaterals (different types, characteristics, and classifying them), and angles (different types, characteristics, classifying & measuring them).
Additionally, we have been reviewing data (mean, median, mode, range) – there will be a quiz next Monday on this.
Holiday Party Collection
These notes were sent home. Mrs. Hammoud and Ms. Beydoun are collecting $10 for ALL the parties to cover the cost of food, games, supplies, etc. Please send in the money with your student. Thank you!
