Please see the attached directions and note from Dearborn Public School regarding the mandatory math and literacy work that all students must complete this summer:
Parent Letter Summer Learning_ 2018
This is a previously published reading list. The list for 2018 is not yet available:
As referenced in the directions, your student need to enter their Spring NWEA scores which was sent home 2 weeks ago. Another copy will be sent with their final 5th grade report card next week.
Assessments
This week and next we are finishing up quite a few things:
- Math Unit 11 Assessment on Friday: volume of regular rectangular prisms, irregular rectangular prisms, multiplying and dividing fractions
- Social Studies Unit 7 on Tuesday: A New Nation – The Constitution, the 3 branches of government, the Bill of Rights, etc.
- Social Studies Position Paper next Thursday – writing a brief essay defending a position based on the Core Democratic Values
- Language Quiz on Monday: similar to morning language quizzes
- Math WarmUp quiz on Wednesday
- NWEA still finishing this week and next
- Founding Fathers research report
We will get through this! We have learned so much this year! We should be proud!
Suggested Packing List
Here is the copy again of the suggested packing list:
Campers: medicine!
If your child takes prescription medicine and/or an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, please place it in a sealable plastic baggie with their full name on it and give it to your child’s teacher next Tuesday. (It cannot be packed in your child’s belongings.)
- If it is a prescription: the medicine needs to be in the original container with the prescription label on the package. We will follow the directions as prescribed.
- If it is OTC medicine, it needs to be in the original package. We will follow the directions on the package.
If you have any questions, please contact one of the 5th grade teachers.
Lost and Found
Larger lost and found items (sweatshirts & jackets for example) have been laid out on tables near the office. Smaller items (single gloves for example) are in the lost and found box. Please check the tables and box for any items that might belong to your child. Unclaimed items will be donated next week. Thank you
With Thanks and Gratitude
Thank you both students and parents for making this past week such a lovely experience. I am honored to be your teacher – truly I am. Your generosity, kindness, and support are deeply appreciated.
Liberty’s Kids Videos
These videos also compliment the information we have been studying in Unit 6 with the Revolutionary War:
Social Studies Textbook Online
Students should use this online book to assist with their study guide for Unit 6. They were struggling in case, even though we have gone through this material more than once:
