Oreo Emerged!
Ms. Muniz texted me this morning that our friend, Oreo, made her debut today!
Happy Summer!
Happy and Safe Summer Vacation
XO, Ms. Albertson
2018 – 2019 School Year
Thank you parents and students for making this a wonderful school year!
Field Trip Today
Because of the change from Rolling Hills Water Park to the Civic Center, the parents were NOT charged to get in today (we were told originally that they would have to pay), so to the six parents who drove/chaperoned – I will be giving the $3 back to your child in the morning. Additionally, because of parents not being charged, the students will also get $1 back tomorrow because the rate was $9 each.
Thank you Ms. Assaf, Mrs. Bazzi, Mrs. Bronson, Ms. Haidar, Ms. Vu and Ms. Young for driving and chaperoning today! Your help was greatly appreciated.
Change in Field Trip and Friday’s Ceremony
CHANGE IN FIELD TRIP PLANS
Our field trip has been changed due to the weather forecast. Instead of going to the outdoor water park, we will be going to the Dearborn Civic Center for indoor swimming and use of the gym. Because the location has changed we do need another permission slip signed and returned, the amount of money is the same. We will be eating lunch in our classroom so please send a lunch for that day. IF YOU VOLUNTEERED TO DRIVE – WE STILL NEED YOU TO DRIVE. PLEASE BE AT SCHOOL AT 12:00. The students will need a swimsuit, towel, gym shoes, and clothes appropriate for gym activities.
5th GRADE CEREMONY
The ceremony will start at 9:15 on the front lawn of Howard Elementary. Everyone is welcome. The students need to come to school on time like any other school day. They need to wear nice clothes (like they are going out to a nice dinner) but does not need to be super fancy. High heels are not a good idea for the girls because the ceremony is on grass, they will sink or get stuck. After the ceremony the students will need to return to the classroom for a moment to collect their things and receive their gift from the PTA, they then will join you back on the front lawn.
A HUGE THANK YOU to the PTA and all the volunteers who have been working so hard behind the scenes to make all this possible. They are AMAZING!
Field Day – Monday, June 10th
Field day will be Monday rain or shine. Lower elementary from 9-11:30 and upper elementary from 12:30-3:00. Lunch is included: pizza and chicken strips. Parents are needed to volunteer. Contact the P.T.A. for more information.
Update – Water Park
Update … we are all set. A big thank you to the parents who help out!
Update – Water Park

Parents – As of today (the deadline) we do NOT have enough chaperones/drivers to get to the field trip at Rolling Hills Water Park.
If we do not get more drivers and chaperones, we will cancel the field trip and students will have an instructional day on Thursday, June 13 while the other two fifth grades attend the water park.
Please email me if you are able to help your child and their classmates out: AlbertA@dearbornschools.org
NWEA!
We have finally completed our spring NWEA assessments. I am extremely proud with many of the students’ growth. While their score isn’t who they are, it is one indicator of their learning this year.
Tomorrow, a district resource person will assist us in setting up our Khan Academy accounts for summer learning. There will be a letter giving you and your student guidelines about what needs to be completed online to maintain their learning. Additionally, they will be bringing home their NWEA “Goal Setting Worksheet” which gives their latest (spring 2019) scores) along with the areas they should focus on.
Camp Thank You
Thank you to Mr. Chad Bronson, Mr. Jim Finn, Mr. Rich Wolski, Mr. Ali Harb, Ms. Joumana Saad, Mrs. Christina Saleh, and Mrs. Jehan Dakroub!
I greatly appreciate you taking 3 days out of your busy lives to assist and chaperone at camp.
Thank you!
