Spirit Week – Monday

Monday, March 30, 2020
Happy Monday! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. Please scroll down to see yesterday’s post on “Spirit Week.” It is our virtual edition to help boost all of our spirits. Please participate and email your photos of the day’s event to me AlbertA@dearbornschools.org. You might get it posted on our classroom blog and our school blog! Happy Spirit Week!
- read 20 minutes
- Help your parents!
- Math: Module 6 Lesson 12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LpNAIVW6Ko, Learn and Succeed workbook problem for Lesson 12, Zearn Lesson 12.
- Make sure you are caught up on EVERYTHING, including Zearn! (many of you are behind on Zearn)
- I will be posting the Topic A and B quizzes this week. They cannot count as grades. However, you really should try to do your best on them because this content will be revisited not only in middle school, but high school Math as well. (This is just the beginnings of Coordinate Grid work for you.) Complete Topic A by tomorrow please. Read the directions in Google Classroom once I post it.
- 180 Days of Language Days 1 and 2: These are similar to our Language WarmUps from the book we are used to. I will add the page(s) that you are assigned. Put your answers in a Google Doc and submit it to me IN the assignment. Do NOT email me. I will delete emailed work! (And you know I will! 😉)
- Science: (1) There is a chart for you to copy in your Science journals. Copy it on a fresh sheet just as you see it. Be neat and spell the vocabulary correctly. (2) Draw a complete picture of the water cycle, in color, with details and labels. You may either draw an identical picture to the one I posted or find one yourself.
- Reading: 180 Days – posted in GC. Due tomorrow.
Sunday Fun
Tr to figure each out. For example, Star Wars is #19:

Happy Friday! Yes, HAPPY! Because while this monstrous, evil virus is a catastrophe, we are still alive and safe in our homes. Keep perspective. Keep your attitude as positive as possible. Give yourself a time out if you need to, but pull yourself back up and be a good person for your family!

- read 30 minutes
- Math: Module 6 Lesson 11 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHdrxs0dyZo, Learn and Succeed problems from lesson 11, Zearn lesson 11. DON’T draw your lines freehand like Mr. Habecker does in the video – that’s not good. Find your index card I gave you, or use a ruler. Don’t forget to use your Homework Helper page!!! STAY FOCUSED! Keep working hard! We’ve come so far this year!
- Language Review (orange folder): complete week 12 Friday on a Google Document and submit it to me (it’s posted in Google Classroom)
- Math WarmUp #85 – just do it! No cheating, no skipping it. Just do it. I’ll post answers on Monday.
- Science: Open your Science journal to a fresh sheet. Title it “Four Spheres: Hydrosphere and Atmosphere Part 2″ Break the notes into the 2 sections: Hydrosphere, Atmosphere. Watch the Crash Course Kids video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXh_7wbnS3A&t=36s. Pause it, just as we do in class, and take notes on important facts.
- Go on a virtual field trip this weekend to the Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park: https://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/webcams/panda-cam/
- Make sure everything else is finished up from this week
🎶💕🎶 Break Time 🎶💕🎶
Sometimes when we can’t go outside for recess, we take a GoNoodle break (https://www.gonoodle.com/) in the classroom to get moving . There are great tunes and some dance moves. I found this for today. It came on Pandora while I was doing paperwork: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azKPeIWdE6I. I’ll look for some more in the days to come. Get up and get moving!

Happy Thursday!
- help parents!
- read 30 minutes
- Math: Module 6 Lesson 10 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzNXFjtbtXM. I realize the lessons are getting more challenging. I wish I was in class able to help you through this as I love this part of pre-Algebra … analyzing/comparing linear patterns/functions/rules. It is essential for middle school learning. Rewatch the video if you need to. Learn and Succeed problems from lesson 10, Zearn lesson 10. Don’t forget to use your Homework Helper page – they are VERY helpful and important.
- Flocabulary: the lesson from yesterday is due by the end of today. If you are able to, review the video from the lesson.
- Connect to Epic: Follow these directions (1) Use the link “https://www.getepic.com/students” (2) click on “student” (3) enter the class code “kvz2232”
- Science Journal and Reading: Open up your journal to a fresh sheet> Title it “The Four Spheres of the Earth.” As you read this book today (it’s not very long), take notes on the 4 spheres, each sphere and major parts for each (i.e. Geosphere – write down each layer of the Earth, write down characteristics of each, etc.) draw sketches for the big ideas for yourself. Tomorrow, you will be taking an online comprehension quiz on this.
- Go back through and make certain you have turned in your work for the past couple of weeks. There are many of you with missing assignments.
- I might add something else later today … but you’ll be able to do it then, or tomorrow.
Wednesday, March 25, 2020
Happy Wednesday! I didn’t sleep well last night, and I was up way too early. (Which means I will need to nap with Harley and Stella soon.) I used the time to get started on our classwork for today. Yesterday, I was able to create a Flocabulary classroom for us, which links the material between Flocabulary and our Google Classroom. If you do Flocabulary without linking it to our Google Classroom, it will show me that you did not complete the work. Not good. You need to go through our connection to get credit for the work.
- Help parents!
- Read 30 minutes
- Math: Module 6 Lesson 9 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x56Yhg8jDAc, Learn and Succeed problems for lesson 9, Zearn Module 6 Lesson 9. This lesson is more practice with functions and rules, to keep linear equations. Then, you look at patterns and other interesting comparisons.
- Social Studies: Flocabulary “The French & Indian War” http://blog.flocabulary.com/sign-in-to-flocabulary-with-google/. You shouldn’t need a class code since I linked Google Classroom with Flocabulary. You should see a box that shows “Sign-in with Google.” Click on that and it should connect properly. This assignment has several components to it. You do not need to get it all done today. You have it available until Thursday, when it is due.
- Science: Open your Science journal to a fresh sheet. Title it ” Four Spheres: Geosphere and Biosphere Part 1″ Break the notes into the 2 sections: Biosphere, Geosphere.Watch the Crash Course Kids video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMxjzWHbyFM&list=PLhz12vamHOnYmvLSYtQvuxDrWSi795yDa&index=3. Pause it, just as we do in class, and take notes on important facts.
- Missing Work: go back through the blog and see what else was posted over the last 2 weeks and verify that you completed it all. MANY of you have missing work. Not good! Complete it please.
- We will start on Epic! tomorrow. If you want to get set up today, follow these directions: (1) Click on this link https://www.getepic.com/students (2) Type our class code “kvz2232” (3) Click on you for your account (4) look around the site to familiarize yourself with it. I will be assigning the book TOMORROW. Don’t start on it today, please.
