Snow Day, Conferences, Math Test

Posted by Ann Albertson on November 12, 2019 in Class News |

I hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday. Because of the Snow Day, the District will decide when tonight’s conferences will be rescheduled – one day next week most likely. As soon as I know which day, I will send home a note. This might be a slight inconvenience for many. However, please make adjustments in your schedule accordingly to attend the conference with your 5th grader.

It seems many students have NOT been putting in appropriate work & study time with their Math problems as evidenced by some of the Topic D scores on papers sent home yesterday. The Assessment for Mid Module 2 will be tomorrow. Please make certain your 5th grader is putting in extra practice today.

As I mentioned to many parents at last week’s conferences, fifth grade is much more challenging than 4th grade. (And it isn’t the same 5th grade expectations we had as 5th graders 20+ years ago.) It is supposed to be that way to get the students to grow – cognitively, emotionally, and socially – and to be ready for middle school and today’s world. Please continue to monitor your 5th grader’s homework closely each night. Thank you for doing all you can!
