Gingerbread House Project & Book Exchange
Gingerbread House Project
Prior to winter break, a gingerbread project is planned for the students. This project will cover the skill areas of math and science. Specific skills the students will work on are: measurement, predictions, outcomes, sequencing, and cooperative learning.
In order for all students to be actively involved, each student is asked to bring in the following items by Tuesday, December 19:
- styrofoam base, cookie sheet or cardboard covered with foil
(this only needs to be somewhat larger than the carton itself)
- pint sized milk carton (students may bring one from home or use one from school lunch)
- one container of ready-made frosting
- plastic knife
- one package of graham crackers
- candy, cookies, and other edible items for decorating their house
Book Exchange
A holiday book exchange is planned for Friday, December 22. Boys are asked to bring in a new chapter book for another boy in the class, and girls are asked to bring in a new chapter book for another girl in the class. Please try to keep a five dollar limit. (Or a student can bring in a book that either a boy or girl would enjoy.)
Wrap the book and indicate who is giving the book by writing your child’s name on the outside of the package. We will exchange book on Friday, during our party. Boys will receive a book from another boy, and girls will receive a book from another girl.
