WELCOME BACK!

April 13 to 17

Good Morning 4th Grade Families! We hope everyone had a safe Spring Break! As all of you know, school will be closed for the remainder of the year. This does not stop us from learning, though! We have worked together to come up with activities that students can work on throughout the week. We will be keeping our format the same, but some activities have been replaced with new ones. Please read the following below for the weekly homework and announcements.

Homework and Announcements for the week:

Math: We are on our next unit which is Module 6: Decimals. Students will have homework every night with an exit ticket given on Friday. We will do Lessons 1, 2, and 3 this week. Please be sure to do the Zearn lessons assigned below. This will help students learn the content that I will be teaching.

Math Book for the next 4 weeks (Do not print every page! Please only print the pages needed for this week): https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A448f0abc-e568-4914-bf83-3f9d6b906054

If you do not have a printer, please do math problems on a piece of paper or in a notebook.

Reading: We will have 2 Readwork articles a week assigned on Google Classroom. The expectation is to read and answer the questions by the end of the week. The articles will be posted on Monday. Instead of having another Readworks article, we would like students to spend each day reading on their iReady account. This program is geared towards your student’s reading level and offer instruction based on their reading needs.

Reading

  1. Sensing the World Around Us
  2. Tag– I’m It!

Writing: Covid-19 Journal on Google Classroom

We have decided to use this time for our students to create a journal about this unusual time in their lives for their writing. This is a constructive way for them to be more self aware, creative, use their imagination, and improve their writing skills. We have a Google Slides format for them to start the journal and they can add in their own blank slides. There are questions they can answer by using words, pics, videos, or anything appropriate for the journal. It will be their own living history for this time in their lives.

Here is a small sample to see what you can do –

Journal Example #1

Journal Example #2

Science on Tuesday and Thursday:

A mystery science lesson will be posted on Tuesday and then a second lesson on Thursday. This will put on Google Classroom with the link to open the lesson and the directions for what each student has to do for that activity.

Social Studies on Wednesday:

There will be a lesson posted each Wednesday for Social Studies on Google Classroom. The links and the directions will be on the assignment.

Art/Music/Technology: Art, Music, Technology assignments will be given through google classroom.

An Act of KINDNESS…

Greetings to All,

I just wanted to share a sweet and kind act. Our classmate Said left me a little surprise on my front porch. He was at his mom’s house, which is down the street from me, and was doing some cleaning when he found something that he thought I would like! A little CAT figurine. Most of you know that I do love cats so what a thoughtful gift! Right?
Is there a neighbor you might surprise with a note? I hope everyone is able to stay safely in touch with family and friends.
Your friend and teacher,

Ms. Cronin
