Fourth Graders Discover the World Around Them!

Greetings!

All fourth Graders are working on a United States Regions Project. Students were divided into groups of three and four and then assigned a specific region of the USA. Each group is working on an informational writing piece about the states in their region. Student will then create a power point on the chrome books to share the information that they have discovered through their research. Students will be looking for specific information about each state and then determine what are the shared characteristics of that region. Shared characteristics are things like weather, landforms or culture. This is part of the fourth grade social studies curriculum. Here are a few pictures of my class from today.

ENJOY!

Fourth Graders learn about ENERGY from DTE!

hello!

Today all fourth graders were part of a wonderful presentation by DTE. DTE representatives provided information about renewable and non-renewable resources. All fourth graders learned some practical information about how to take care of our planet and save a little money. Students brought home a box full of DTE goodies. Please take some time to listen to your student explainwhy it’s important to use the materials that came home today. Also, please take some time to fill out the survey. Fourth grade teachers will receive 100 dollars each (to be used to reduce the costs of field trips) if the surveys are returned. Many thanks for your support and cooperation!

sincerely,

PBIS CELEBRATION TOMORROW!

Greetings to All!

Tomorrow is October 2! Wow! Time flies…Always!

This first week of October brings lots of events. First, on Monday, we have our first PBIS Celebration. All students in my class will participate in the fun. This will be an OUTDOOR event that involves various stations…like bubbles, frisbee’s, and hula hoops. Students should wear comfortable clothing to enjoy the outdoor fun.

Also this week PTA is selling bags of popcorn for .50 cents. All popcorn must be pre-ordered before Friday. Students can enjoy the popcorn on Friday afternoon.

We end our week with a family friendly event-OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT! Come and join the fun at Haigh on Friday evening.

Well that is all for now! I am enjoying this fabulous day…I hope you are too!

UNIT 1 MATH TEST TOMORROW!

Greetings Friends-

Fourth graders will have their first math test tomorrow. Each student brought home their Pre-Test today. The Post Test is very similar: the same problems just with different numbers.

Jena’s mom sent this picture. I am posing after hitting the target with the hatchet. It really was a great day!
