“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Greetings to All,

Today we met with our kindergarten book buddies. We shared a Scholastic News paper with them about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  We talked to our new friends about kindness and love  and ways to be a good friend. We shared part of MLK’s  story: that  in one of his famous speeches he talked about a dream…a dream about the future…a future where we did not judge people by the color of their skin but on the content of their character.

We love our new book buddies.

I hope all of you can share a part of yourself over our three day weekend. Also, the Henry Ford Museum is FREE on Monday.

Stay warm,

A. Cronin

Each person can make a difference, together we can make a change…

Happy New Year!

Our vacation/holiday is coming to an end. Hopefully all of us have put some new (and good) routines in place.  All fourth graders have been working on becoming independent learners-readers, thinkers, and writers! The second half of fourth grade begins on Monday. It will be wonderful to see everyone and hear stories about what’s been going on with each other  for the past two weeks. I am looking forward to it.

Students will start taking the NWEA tests soon. These tests look at reading, language, math and science progress. This will be the second of three testing windows. We will be reviewing and reinforcing skills and concepts at school. However, students  are encouraged to practice at home too.

Thank You Dalilah!

This is a special shout out to our classmate Dalilah. She bought everyone in our class a candy cane from the PTA candy cane sale. It really was such a wonderful act of kindness. Everyone had a smile on their face when the candy canes were delivered….no one was left out! Thank you Dalilah for making your classmates and teacher so very happy!

First New Year’s Resolution-MEET OUR NEW BOOK BUDDIES!

Greetings-

We had another fun day. This one started with meeting our new KINDERGARTEN book buddies. We will be meeting , in 2018, with students in Mrs. Fillmore’s class. We will probably meet every other week for 20-30 minutes. Fourth graders will be mentors, teachers and friends to these young students. We had a wonderful day. My class interviewed their new buddy, then they read together and  we finished our time together with a DANCE!  We had a blast!

Enjoy the pictures,

HO, HO, HO!

Season’s Greetings to All!

We had a fun day. We watched the film of The Tale of Despereaux. I just finished reading the book to the class and it was great to watch the movie together and then talk about ways they were the same and different.

The afternoon was our party. Thank you for sending in treats! We had juice boxes, homemade brownies, cookies, candy and a round of BINGO! We were all winners! Also, thank you for the many wonderful and generous gifts. So very thoughtful-and much appreciated by me.

sincerely,

DECK THE HALLS….

Greetings to all!

Our hallway is getting more beautiful every day! Thank you for your support and cooperation with this fun project.

Holiday Party Dicussion-the class discussed our holiday party today. Most students would like to have a “secret Santa” gift exchange. What do you think? Students agreed they would pick a name from the whole class and then shop for a gift. The gift would be priced from five to ten dollars, wrapped with a gift tag , then brought to school the last week of school. I asked them to talk to YOU about this tonight and we would make a final decision by Friday. We currently have a “suggestion” list posted for kids to add their ideas for our party.

Also, please send in the permission slip along with 2 dollars. This will be a great trip to Stout Middle School to see their theatre kids perform. The play is a spoof of the classic  A Christmas Carol with a modern setting involving kids who are bullies. The play is about an hour long. We have also been invited to see Stout’s Spring musical-The Addams Family.

Sincerely,

a. cronin
