“IT’S NOT ABOUT WHAT IT IS, IT’S ABOUT WHAT IT CAN BECOME.” Dr. Seuss

Hello Again,

Another student in our class also was involved in a wonderful project. This project involved working with her sister to raise money for Stout Middle School’s Theatre Department. Zeinab and Yasmeen wanted to raise money to donate to Stout’s Theatre program. They met with Mr. Short and proposed an idea-the idea was to make bookmarks and slime and to sell  these items along side our school store.

It was a SUCCESS. Our class was very supportative along with other students and teachers. They sold ALL of their homemade products. They are hoping to have a second fund raising activity in March.

Thank you Zeinab for being so kind and thoughtful and creative with this successful project.

Keep it up!

Be a Rainbow in Someone Elses’ Cloud-Maya Angelou

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Once again, a BIG THANK YOU to DELILAH! She treated all of her classmates to a candy gram.

It is so very thoughtful of Delilah to find a way to treat all of her classmates to a wonderful Friday treat…she told me this: ” My Mom and I just don’t want anyone to feel left out.”

Thank you Delilah and thank you to Delilah’s mom.

4th Graders ROCK to the CLASSICS!

Greetings,

All Fourth Graders in Dearborn were treated to a wonderful and fun classical music experience with the Dearborn Symphony. Dearborn music teacher Jim Walters hosts this annual musical treat to introduce kids to the sounds of classical music. The composer ranged  from Beethoven to Copeland and concluded with the theme from Star Wars by John Williams!

Fourth Graders begin their journey of playing an instrument with the recorder. Students earn yarn belts for each song they can learn. Students will be bringing home recorders tomorrow. Please  support and encourage  your young learner as they begin to play this new instrument.

Fourth Graders working on writing, reading, and thinking about the genre of FANTASY!

Good Evening!

Students brought home their second report card today. Please keep the card and return the envelope.

NWEA scores are NOT reported on this second report card.

All students have finished all four NWEA TESTS. Each grade level will now look at the results in reading and math. Mr. Short  will be slimed  if our grade level improves. Watch Out, Mr. Short….I’m pretty sure SLIME is in your future!

We have started a new unit of study in reading and writing: FANTASY! Today we started thinking about magic, quests, fantastic beasts, and things that go bump in the night.

LOGIC WILL GET YOU FROM A TO B. IMAGINATION WILL TAKE YOU EVERYWHERE!-ALBERT EINSTEIN

Happy Friday to All!

Most students have finished their SCIENCE NWEA. Most students made very nice improvements.

We have started the LANGUAGE test and will finish that next week. Also next week, we will start the READING test. MATH will be the following week along with make-ups.

All of the kids have been working very hard on these tests-taking their time, rereading passages, asking clarifying questions.

Today students worked together to build some LEGO models. They had fun working together and creating some very cool structures.

Enjoy the pictures,
