Last week students worked in groups of four to create a model that showed potential and kinetic energy and how energy is transferred. Students used hot wheel tracks, dominoes, glues sticks, marbles, plastic cars and whatever else they could find in our classroom that would be appropriate. After spending about 40 minutes developing the model students had to explain to me and their classmates how their model showed potential, kinetic and the transfer of energy.
The models were all different and all successful!
Greetings…
We had a wonderful party today. Many thanks to Madina’s Mom, Serena’s mom, Gracie’s Dad and Felix’s mom for donating their time and supplies to make it such a fun day. We played BINGO, decorated mini pumpkins, created a treat bag, and worked on two Halloween crafts. Then we went outside to dance, eat donuts and drink cider. We then paraded around the school. At the end of parade route PTA GAVE EACH STUDENT A TREAT BAG! WOW! What a day!
Greetings to All!
I apologize for not communicating as often lately. I seem to be having some issue posting pictures…which I love to do when I share classroom news or activities.
HALLOWEEN News- ALL STUDENTS can wear their costumes on Wednesday. PBIS celebration starts at 2:00 and will be outside if weather permits. The ALL SCHOOL PARADE will start around 2:30 and will hopefully circle the school two times. OUR CLASS will start our party after lunch. We will begin around 12:30. Students are encouraged to bring in a class treat. There are 22 students and treats can be the edible kind or something else-stickers, pencils, spider rings, etc.
SCHOOL WORK NEWS-students have 15 seasonal words for their spelling this week with only ONE word work assignment; to write a play or story using all 15 words.
Mrs. Izbicki sent home a math homework helper sheet for parents. Please look this over and visit her blog for more math updates.
On Friday students worked in teams to build a model showing different forms of energy-kinetic, potential and a transfer of energy. Students used Hot Wheels track, dominoes, glue sticks, balls, plastic cars and other classroom objects. It was great fun and a wonderful learning experience!
Please keep in mind that this Friday is 1/2 day for ELEMENTARY STUDENTS! Teachers will be at school in meetings and working on report cards.
Thanks for your support! I hope to see you on Wednesday,
Greetings Parents,
We had a wonderful field trip today. The weather was good, no rain, the kids were excited and the activities were awesome. Many THANKS to all the parents who were able to join us. Enjoy all the beautiful pictures.
Thursday is our field trip to the Oakwood Nature Center. All students must bring a bagged lunch. There are no vending machines. No food or drinks are available at the center.
Also, please keep the weather in mind while planning your student’s clothes for the trip. We will be outside, walking trails and canoeing. A jacket or sweatshirt with a hood, long pants and comfortable walking shoes are a must.
Mosquitoes might be a problem. Bug spray should be applied at home.
We we have many parents joining us on this trip. Please be at school by 9:00. We will meet you in the school lobby on our way to the bus.
Let’s hope for good weather!
Greetings,
Just a friendly reminder that all students will have their pictures taken on Monday, October,1.
Also, our first field trip is this Thursday, October 4th. All students need to bring a lunch and dress for lots of OUTDOOR fun!
Greetings,
Today we explored the nature of energy as it applies to marbles in motion. Energy is the ability to do work. We are learning about the difference between potential energy (stored energy) and kinetic energy ( the energy of moving things). In this lesson, students used marbles to see how collisions can transfer energy from one object to another.
Enjoy the pictures!
