Market Day Work Day

Greetings,

Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are work days for our fourth grade market day. Students can bring in materials  and work on products with their partners or they can work on advertising. Students are making video commercials, writing scripts and speeches, designing company logo’s, putting together price lists and working on  various kinds of incentives to encourage shoppers to stop and buy from their stores.

Remember to mark your calendars and join us for this fun event. The date is April 26, Friday, from 12:30 to 3:00. All shoppers receive 25 play dollars to shop. All four 4th grade classrooms will have student companies with products for sale.  We hope to see you there!!

sincerely,

Pie and Ice Cream? OH MY!

Happy Spring Break!

We had a fun filled day. We started with an assembly. The assembly was a “thank you” from Mr. Short to the students for their hard work and effort to increase their NWEA scores. Two students were chosen from each class to throw a pie (a small plate filled with whipped cream) at Mr. Short. The kids loved it!

We ended our day with another “thank you” from our PTA. PTA treated all of us to an ice cream sundae. Of course the kids LOVED it!

I hope everyone has a relaxing, fun filled vacation. When we return to school our focus continues to be on M-STEP preparations. Our year is quickly coming to an end and there are numerous assessments.

M-STEP, NWEA,and  DRA’s are assessment tools used for students to show what they have learned each year.

Take Care Everyone,

A. Cronin

Students brought home a letter (in yellow paper) today with details about our yearly 4th grade market day. This is a wonderful project that allows  students an opportunity to be producers and consumers.

Students work together to create a company, design  products, make commercials and advertise their products to third graders and YOU!  Please mark your calendars. Bring your friends and relatives. Each shopper gets 25 dollars in play money to shop at all four 4th grade classrooms. More information will be coming home as we get closer to this special day.

Beethoven’s Fifth, The William Tell Overture AND STAR WARS! OH MY!

Greetings…

The Fourth Grade was treated to a fabulous concert by the Dearborn Symphony. This concert introduced students to the various  instruments of a symphony and then demonstrated how magnificent they sound when played together.

We also watch two Haigh students play their recorders with the symphony. Ameena and Santo played with other Dearborn students. They played Ode to Joy by Beethoven.

We had a great morning!

THE WILD ROBOT-a friendly robot, an island full of wild animals and a message about how to get along.

Greetings,

Spirit week has been so much fun. THANK YOU for supporting these fun reading events. I have been reading a wonderful book to the class called The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The story centers on a robot named ROZ who finds herself shipwrecked on an island full of wild animals. Our friendly and curious robot  decides to learn about her new environment. We have worked on  a few extensions activities including research on uninhabited islands, the role of technology in our everyday lives and a combination of art and reading about the various animals on the island.

Tomorrow a few students are planning a little leprechaun fun and we will get to hear the Dearborn High Football Team read to our classes.

Happy Reading!

Tonight look for homework-spelling, word work and social studies. Also a permission slip for NEXT TUESDAY-ALL of Dearborn School’s Fourth Graders will attend a concert by the Dearborn Symphony!
