Ms.Cronin’s Field Trip is TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1.

Greetings Parents,

My class is going to the Oakwood Nature Center next Tuesday, October 1. We are going by ourselves. Mrs. Greco and Ms. Vouchard are going on Monday. Unfortunately they could not accommodate all of us on one day.

We have nine parents joining us so plenty of chaperones. The weather will be warm so dress in layers.

All students bring a bagged lunch with a drink. There are no vending machines at the nature center.

Happy Friday,

Math Test on Wednesday!

Happy Monday,

Students brought home a study guide for their first mid module unit test in math. Students are working on place value with large numbers. They will be adding and subtracting, with regrouping, using these larger numbers.

All week in SOCIAL STUDIES we will spend part of our time learning about the United States Constitution. Our US Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. So, this week, across the USA, students take time to discuss some important elements of this founding document. This incredible document established America’s national government and fundamental laws and guaranteed certain basic rights for its citizens. A closer look at our government is planned for later in the year.

Students also brought home this week’s SPELLING WORDS and word work. Please spend some time with your student each night learning these important fourth grade words.

Lastly, a reminder about this FRIDAY….FRIDAY IS A HALF DAY OF SCHOOL FOR ALL DEARBORN STUDENTS.

Sincerely,

A. Cronin

I hope to see all of you tomorrow at our open house. This will be a great opportunity to meet all three fourth grade teachers. Your student can show you around our classroom and then take you on a tour of their math and science rooms.

I will have parent/teacher conference sign up sheets available for you as well.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

April Cronin

Field Trip Information

Greetings,

Students brought home a permission slip for our first fourth grade field trip. The fourth grade has been taking this trip for the last four years. We love it. The Oakwood Nature Center is part of the Huron Metro Park system. There is a great nature center that overlooks the Huron River. There are many walking trails and gorgeous views of the river. The best part is the opportunity to ride in a replica French Voyageur Canoe. This extra long and wide canoe holds about 18 people. We all wear life jackets and get a chance to paddle down the Huron. Our journey down the river is guided by one of the park rangers. We learn about the life of these early traders and get to experience some their fun and work as they made their way across this territory.

The cost of the trip is 11 dollars. This includes transportation and the fees associated at the nature center. Students will bring their own lunch and eat at the center. Parents are welcomed to join us on this very amazing trip!
