Beethoven and Star Wars-oh my!

Our view from the balcony

Fifth grade students playing the recorders-the two on the far right our Ali and Malik from Haigh!

This morning the fourth graders heard the Dearborn Symphony perform. Dearborn Schools’s Jim Walters was our host. This wonderful opportunity was sponsored by our school PTA and the Dearborn Public Schools. This was a chance for students to see and hear a symphony. Mr. Walters introduced each section of the orchestra. Students were very impressed with the music:from Rossini’s William Tell Overture to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony to the Star Wars Theme Song by John Williams !

We all LOVED it!

Report Cards and NWEA Scores

Greetings Parents,

Report cards are coming home today. Please review them with your student.

The NWEA grade equivalent score listed for MATH and READING are from the testing in the FALL. They are NOT scores from the testing we did at the end of January. You will see these results on the third card marking.

If you have any questions concerning the report card or the tests please call or email me. I am able to meet before or after school.

Also, please sign the envelope and return the envelope. Please keep the report card for your records.

Sincerely,

A. Cronin

Valentine’s

Hello!

I will be sending home a class list on Friday for each student to use while filling out Valentines.

Students are encouraged to bring in Valentine’s. We will be making treat bags and students will deliver their Valentines during our party on Tuesday, February 14. Room parents will be helping at our party. We will have cheese pizza, drinks, and other goodies. If you would like to send in a treat with your student that would be appreciated. Thanks for your help and support!

Room Changes!

Greetings Parents!

This afternoon some student groups shared their word work activity which was to write and present a variety of topics through a talk show format. The students moved some furniture and afterwards we discussed the possibility of a new room design. We worked together and came up with a new and we think better room design. The desks are arranged in a kind of circle around our new rug. The easy chairs were placed in the middle. All students can see each other as well as the promethean board or me. There are still areas in the room for group work and independent work.  Here are some pictures for you to look at.

Sincerely,

A. Cronin

Student Council Elections

Greetings Parents-

The fourth grade listened to 16 candidates today. Each of the candidates gave remarkable speeches.

The students, the fourth grade teachers and Mr. Short were really impressed with the quality and character of these speeches. We are determined to find meaningful ways for all of our fourth graders to be involved with various school projects throughout the year.

The photograph above is of Room 4’s four presidential candidates. Starting at the left is our newest student Justin, then Dylan, Yasmeen and Talia.  Justin won with the most votes. He is our class President. Yasmeen tied for second with a student from Mrs. Lahooti’s class. So we will have Co-Vice

Presidents. Congratulations to ALL of our candidates!

Sincerely,

A. Cronin
