January News

on January 12, 2016

We are getting close to finishing the NWEA winter  testing. Most students have finished; a few need to finish the math portion. The students worked very hard. They were focused on doing their best.

Here is a quick update on the content we are studying this month:

Social Studies-we are starting a unit on the United States Federal Government. We will be learning about the U.S. Constitution, the three branches of government and the purpose of government.

Math-we continue to look at concepts around multiplication. We are starting to multiply two and three digit problems. We are working on learning strategies to solve multi-step word problems through the use of equations. Please continue to practice basic math facts at home.

Reading-we are discussing author’s purpose and looking at a variety of genres. All students have an assigned reading text that they read and write about daily.

Looking ahead-Popcorn sale on Friday (1/15)

-No school on Monday (1/18)

-Late start on Wednesday (1/20)

-Field Trip to Cranbrook on Thursday (1/28)

Many thanks for support and cooperation,

April Cronin
