McCollough: 

1st grade:  I can show my understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds;  I can use the alphabet bubble game to practice my alphabetizing and computer (keyboarding and mouse) skills.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading »

McCollough:  

  • Teaching/Reviewing logging onto Chrome Books
  • 1st Grade:  visit ABCya.com work on the ABC slider puzzle (great for mouse skills)
  • 2nd Grade:  ABCya.com  work Spelling Practice
  • 3rd Grade:  ABCya.com  Spelling Bees  (fun interactive spelling game; can compete with other users online while working the keyboard and mouse)

Stout:  Check out with Mr Melvin’s classes on Thursday;  Book Tasting with Mr. Hool’s classes on Friday.  Lunch meetings with my book club.  These guys are FLYING through the books!  I’m sponsoring some serious readers this year.


October 24th-28th

McCollough: 

  • Read aloud a Halloween Story (Halloweiner by Dav Pilkey for 1st;  Boo! by Robert Munsch to 2nd and 3rd).  I had a blast scaring the bejeezus out of my older students during parts of Boo!  (insert evil laugh here)
  • Computers were taken for testing (again) so onto Plan B;  We designed our own paper jack-o-lanterns. I love the students who think outside the box and add headphones or crazy hair to their pumpkins.

Stout:

  • Check outs with 6th grade and Bilingual classes
  • Had lunch meetings with my book club, the Flash Readers. They LOVED our first book Code of Honor by Alan Gratz.  Hopefully they enjoy The Watsons Go To Birmingham as much.

  • ABC Challenge  (Much more challenging than last week’s work;  Longer list of words, and several that begin with the same letter)

Stout:  Book check out with Mr. Melvin and Mr. Hool’s Language Arts classes;  Had several groups of kids sign up for Battle of the Books 🙂
