1st Grade: *Szleszynska’s class only got a story because of the parade.

Content Objective: I can I can use a variety of digital tools to convey ideas and illustrate concepts.
Language Objective: I can log on/off of a chromebook and utilize web links and bookmarks to navigate websites.
Procedure:

  1. Read aloud “Creepy Pair of Underwear” by Aaron Reynolds
  2. Review logging on/off chromebooks
  3. Demo visiting my blog and using class links
  4. Visit one of the Halloween websites linked on my blog; circulate and make sure everyone bookmarked my blog correctly 

 

2nd Grade: *Hmeidan’s class did not receive this lesson; halloween parade

  1. Read aloud “Monsters Mind Your Manners”
  2. Explain logging in on chromebooks (black number = username; red number= password); demonstrate
  3. Show classes how to get to my blog and bookmark the page.
  4. Independent Practice:  Library Shelver game

*Getting to my blog solo is too much.  Have the kids log on and bring the chromebooks to me and I will do the steps for them.  It was too much to move around and get to every student; Have them line up and bring the computers to my desk and I’ll get them to where they need to be.  

 

2nd Grade:

Procedure:

  2. ABC order review; quick group practice
  3. Independent work:  Halloween ABC order challenge (no words with the same beginning letter)

2nd Grade:

Content Objective: I know the rules for alphabetizing words.
Language Objective:  I can put a list of words in alphabetical order.
Procedure:

  1. Read aloud: Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper
  2. ABC order review: quick group practice
  3. Independent work: Halloween ABC order challenge (two of the words begin with the same letter)

3rd Grade:

Language Objective: I can identify the different areas of the media center.

  3. Read Aloud:  “We Don’t Eat Our Classmates”

  3. Independent Practice.

2nd Grade:

Language Objective: I can use technology to seek information, and convey my ideas/illustrate concepts.
Procedure:

  1. Read aloud “When Charlie McButton Lost Power” Discuss importance of balancing technology time with other unplugged activities.

Procedure:

  1. Digital Citizenship Review–watch “The Nine Elements of Digital Citizenship” on youtube
  2. Review using Mozilla and how to log onto digital passport.
  3. Demonstrate “Evolve” activity on Digital Passport
  4. Independent work.  When students earn their badge for the evolve lesson, they may visit other websites and/or play games.
