1st Grade:

Content Objective: I know what the information on a call number means.
Language Objective: I can put books in correct call number order.  
Procedure:

  1. Read aloud:  “I Need My Monster” by Amanda Noll
  2. Brain Break:  Go Noodle “Let’s Unwind”
  3. Call Number Presentation
  4. Library Shelver: whole group and calling up individuals to try it out.  

2nd Grade:

Content Objective: I know what the information on a call number means.
Language Objective:  I can put books in correct call number order.  
Procedure:

  1. Read aloud: “Marilyn’s Monster”
  2. Brain Break:  Go Noodle “Let’s Unwind”
  3. Call Number Presentation Call Numbers 1stand2nd
  4. Library Shelver: whole group and calling up individuals to try it out.

3rd Grade:

Content Objective: I know what the information on a call number means.
Language Objective:  I can put books in correct call number order.   I can use the information on a book’s call number to find a book in the media center. 
Procedure:

  1. Read aloud poems from “Monster Museum”
  2. Brain Break:  Go Noodle “Let’s Unwind”
  3. Call Number Presentation (more advanced; includes nonfiction and Dewey description) Call Numbers 3rd
  4. Library Shelver: whole group and calling up individuals to try it out.
