McCollough: 

1st Grade:  Content Objective:  I can use drag and drop objects in code.org  Language Objective:  I can read and utilize the corrective feedback provided by code.org

  • Watch Introduction to writing code video “Code Stars”  Discuss what programmers do.
  • Introduction to Code.org:  Course 1 Jigsaw
  • Jigsaw drag and drop:  Partner practice

2nd Grade:  Content Objective:  I can use blockly to create code commands and run a program on Code.org.  Language Objectives:  I can read and utilize the corrective feedback provided by code.org.

  • Preview and demo the classic maze program on code.org.  Explain how to correct mistakes made and make adjustments to code commands.
  • Independent Practice.

3rd Grade:  Content Objective:  I can implement search strategies for locating information on a variety of topics.  Language Objective:  I can navigate print and online resources to locate the answers to questions on a variety of topics.

  • Explain the rules and procedures for the resource scavenger hunt.
  • Let the hunt begin!  5 stations:  Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Thesauri, Atlases, and iPads (to access the various websites we have used to access information online).  The team with the most correct answers gets to visit the treasure chest.
