Middle School media time has been slower than usual due to testing, but I recently placed some very large orders for both media centers, so it’s providing me with time to process the new materials.
McCollough:
1st Grade: Content Objective: I can navigate an ipad (search for websites, open/close apps) and access a variety of digital tools. Language Objective: I can follow instructions and piece together objects in the correct place to build a structure.
- Read aloud and discuss: “The Most Magnificent Thing” Great book about perseverance and the growth mindset.
- iPad Demo: Abcya.com “Daisy’s Plumber Puzzle”
- Independent practice building their own magnificent things.
2nd Grade: Content objective: I can use blockly to piece together javascript commands and build a program. Language Objective: I can can read and utilize the corrective feedback provided by code.org
- Review code.org “Star Wars” Stressed the importance of actually reading the instructions before attempting to code the program.
- Watch the Level 7 video: “Creating Events”
- Independent Practice (everyone should surpass Level 8 by this point)
3rd Grade: Content Objective: I can use print and digital tools to locate and organize information. Language Objective: I can use an online encyclopedia to find and record information on a variety of topics.
- Intro to online encyclopedias
- Demo on writing complete sentences.
- Independent practice.
