Welcome Back and Happy NEW YEAR!
Hope you all had a restful break and spent time with family. I spent most of my time hanging with family at home. I really enjoyed spending the time with my 6 month old niece!
NWEA testing will begin this week! Make sure your child is resting and getting a good breakfast before school.
Students started the NWEA Language Usage yesterday (1/8/19) and will be continuing to finish that this week. We will start a new test every week on Tuesday.
Here is what is happening this week:
ELA
- Spelling words this week: forgetting, expelling, transferring, equipping, regretting, flipping, wrapping, planning, beginning, compelling, dropping, referring, shopping, omitting, snapping, quizzing, upsetting, begging, swimming.
- We will be focusing on comprehension to be ready for NWEA.
- Writing we will be making New Year’s resolutions and writing narrative text about roller coasters.
- Students should be reading every night at least 30 minutes!
Math
- We will begin Module 2 Lesson 13 on using whole number multiplication to express equivalent measurements.
- We will also review coordinate planes in preparation for NWEA.
Science
- We will begin focusing on the moon phases and the lunar cycle.
- We will do an experiment to see the moon phases on a globe because it is hard to track the moon phases each night in the winter.
