June 7

Week of 6/8 (last week)

We made it. Can you believe that we have finally reached the end of the school year. All that craziness, hard work, and frustration has led to this. So attached are the calendars for the last week. You will notice a few changes and differences to this weeks calendar.

First of all this week is only four days so notice the week ends on Thursday. Second you will also be happy to see there is not any academic assignments for this last week. It is meant to give all those students who are still trying to catch up that time they need. If you are someone who is all caught up, we only ask you fill out the end of the year survey. Please answer honestly and truthfully. We can take it.

We will still have both our office hours and Big Blue Button Meet this week. We really hope to have as many of you as we can attend both. We will be answering questions and playing games during our office hours Tuesday and then logging into our Big Blue Button on Thursday for one last in video person goodbye.

We truly miss teaching you in person every day but we are proud of what you were able to overcome in this more than challenging school year. We will always be here for you and wish everyone the best summer yet.

Also I want everyone to note that all late/missing work is due Wednesday, June 10th by midnight.

Can you believe it? It is June already. We are in the home stretch and it is the most important part of the year. We all need to work together to finish this year strong and end on a positive note. Please review the calendar for the week to see what assignments are to be completed. Make sure you are going back and completing any past assignments you may have missed.

The assignments for the week are online (Khan/iReady) and on Google Classroom.

Please do not wait any longer if you have any questions for us.

Week of 5/25

Hello everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend and are ready for that final push in this crazy school year. I can only speak for myself when I say it has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done. Teaching in a 100% online environment is beyond anything I ever expected to do when I got the call to be hired by Dearborn schools but here we are so please keep that focus extra sharp with this four day week.

Attached you will find the calendars and all the things you will need for this week. Use the calendar to help you in finding what to do. Make sure you are doing each days work and completing the tasks so you don´t fall behind in these last few weeks. As always, reach out if you have questions.

Lastly, check your student and parent connects. If anything is missing, you can make it up but you must tell us when you make up work so we can make sure we grade it and put it in the gradebook. Summer school letters are being sent this week but there is still time to keep yourself out of that. Good luck and enjoy the warm weather.

Google Hangout Update

Good morning to all,

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, the district has suspended the use of Google Meet for the time being.  For us that means that we have to cancel today’s meetings with each of our classes.  That being said, we are still available for you if you need to ask any questions or need help with the work from this week.  We would love it if everyone could take a minute and send us a quick check in email or give a quick call.  We really would like to hear from you.

In another way to support you without being able to meet today, we will be posting some example videos later this morning to give examples and further explain this week’s topics.  Keep an eye out for those.

Lastly, please pay special attention to the post on Sunday or Monday about how the meetings will take place next week.  We are working on a method to still be available by video to all of you and will have an answer then.  As always stay healthy and stay safe.

District Updates Learning Plan

Hello everyone,
I am not sure if everyone has heard by now but the district released that their learning plan for the rest of the year was approved. I am attaching the letter to this post so you can read it for yourselves. I do want to highlight that we are going to continue to track student progress and learning in a mostly online matter. This will include two weekly google meets per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) that I do expect to see as many of you as I can at. As your teacher, I do hope to still have as much contact with you as possible.

Also, we will be checking progress almost daily based on the work assigned each week in the grade level calendar. That calendar will be posted to both the Google Classroom and iBlog each Monday morning. Use that as your biggest reference for everything that needs to be completed each week. As always if you need to ask any questions, have concerns, or just need clarification, you can always reach us at our emails, phone number, or posting comments on Google Classroom.

Take care and stay safe.

P.S. In case you needed our contact information again, here it is: Andrew Petrusha Email: petrusa@dearbornschools.org Phone #: 313-437-2508 (Call/Text) Susan Rockey Email: rockeys@dearbornschools.org Phone #: 734-430-0847 (Call/Text)
