{"id":119,"date":"2018-08-26T08:20:32","date_gmt":"2018-08-26T12:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/zastrow\/?page_id=119"},"modified":"2019-09-02T14:39:12","modified_gmt":"2019-09-02T18:39:12","slug":"about-mrs-zastrow","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/zastrow\/about-mrs-zastrow\/","title":{"rendered":"About Mrs. Zastrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I am Mrs. Rouba Zastrow, and I cannot wait to get started!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We are going to have a blast reading, puzzling over numbers in math, delving into the history of the United States, and composing stories that will bring tears to our reader\u2019s eyes (from laughter of course!).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our classroom will become a community of learners where we will be comfortable and happy, while still learning and having fun.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This year will be epic, as long as we all push ourselves to do our best.<\/p>\n<p>Let me start by giving you a little information about myself.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I grew up on the east coast in Massachusetts.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>While there, I went to the University of Massachusetts where I studied English and got a Master\u2019s Degree in Secondary Education.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Secondary?! Yes, I started teaching middle and high school until I realized that the cooler people were down in the elementary schools.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>So I wisely<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>went<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>to<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Eastern<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Michigan<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>University<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>to<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>get my\u00a0elementary school endorsement.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But before I arrived here I taught one year of high school, three years of middle school, one year of second, and seven years of upper elementary.<\/p>\n<p>I love to read children\u2019s books, I prefer them over books targeted at adults.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I often find myself in Barnes and Nobles perusing the children\u2019s section reading to myself, and using more money than intended. Who does not love a book that has colorful pictures, action, plot twists, unique characters, and you can read it in less than 15 minutes!<\/p>\n<p>I love to write too.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I know you must think I am saying this because I am a teacher, but it is true!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I write poetry and short stories.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They tend to be very sarcastic and somewhat funny.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I cannot wait to see what this group of fifth graders will first write about!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Will you tell tales of heroic superhero, princesses who do the rescuing, adventurous puppy dogs, food that talks, or histories of yourself?!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Who knows where your imagination will lead you?!<\/p>\n<p>Outside of school I like to play soccer, though not very well.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In all my years of playing I have only scored one goal (it was on my own team). I have 2 kids, Jude my 13 year old stepson and Binyameen who is 1 years old.<\/p>\n<p>I am a Disney addict.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Yes, I can sing \u201cLet It Go\u201d and other songs word for word to the horror of my husband and Jude.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I am tone deaf, meaning when I sing &#8211; and I guarantee your children will report back to you &#8211; everyone covers their ears and runs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I also like to bake:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>cookies, cakes, cupcakes, pies, brownies, and cheesecake!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I live for school bake sales.<\/p>\n<p>This year will be amazing!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>With your help we will have an unforgettable fifth grade at Miller Elementary.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It will take all of us &#8211; parents, guardians, teachers, support staff &#8211;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>to make this a classroom where your children will want to come to every day.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for the support!
