Happy New Year!<\/p>\n

I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the winter break with your family!\u00a0 Here is what you need to know for the upcoming week in our classroom;<\/p>\n

Welcome Betty Bunny to Room 114!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

This is one of our favorite characters, named Betty Bunny. She is quite a “handful!” Ask your child about if being a handful is a good thing or not?\u00a0 \u00a0Betty Bunny will be visiting your house sometime soon. Please take good care of Betty and make sure she is returned the next school day along with the book and completed journal. Enjoy!<\/p><\/div>\n

Weekly Homework:\u00a0 Since the ABC books are all complete, your child will receive two activity sheets in their red folder every Monday and will need have both completed by Friday.\u00a0 This week’s focus will be on the “long a” sound.\u00a0 Thank you for supporting your child’s learning at home.\u00a0 This not only helps with practicing literacy skills but teaching responsibility and time management as well.<\/p>\n

Words of the Week:\u00a0 our\u00a0 play<\/p>\n

Assessments:\u00a0 We are planning on taking the NWEA Reading test on Tuesday, January 9th.<\/strong>\u00a0 I will be administering individual assessments during Daily 5 this week and therefore will not be seeing reading groups.\u00a0 During this time, Raz-kids is a great way for your child to continue practicing reading or listening to books at their level.<\/p>\n

Science:\u00a0 We will be introducing our new Weather unit on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Social Studies:\u00a0 We will start our History unit this week.\u00a0 A timeline project will be sent home on Wednesday, January 10 and will be due on Thursday, January 25th<\/strong>.\u00a0 This project will be modeled at school so your child will be able to show you what needs to be done.\u00a0 This kindergarten project is always a favorite!<\/p>\n

Field Trip Update:\u00a0 We have rescheduled our Kroger\/Lifetime field trip for Wednesday, January 24th.\u00a0<\/strong> If you are interested in being a chaperone, please email me or leave a comment below.\u00a0 Fingers crossed for good traveling weather.<\/p>\n

Monday:\u00a0 Return Nightly Literacy Homework!\u00a0 Wear gym shoes and clothes appropriate for art.<\/p>\n

Tuesday:\u00a0 Return library books.\u00a0 NWEA Reading Testing.\u00a0 Music with Mrs. Baloga.<\/p>\n

Wednesday:\u00a0 We will have our Leader in Me First Class at 9:15 a.m.\u00a0 Introduction to our Weather unit in science!\u00a0 Timeline project will be sent home today.\u00a0 We will check out a new library book today.<\/p>\n

Thursday:\u00a0 We will have music today.<\/p>\n

Friday:\u00a0 “Long A” homework is due! Wear gym shoes and be prepared for the computer lab.<\/p>\n
