“Ms. Wright, I am sad when science is over!” said Olivia, an enthusiastic kindergarten scientist.<\/p>\n

This is what she tells me after we finish our Earth Material Settling Test. \u00a0We conducted this experiment by putting four different earth materials into jumbo, kid-friendly test tubes along with some water. \u00a0Next, the scientists had fun shaking the test tubes up and observing whether the earth materials settled or not. \u00a0I was surprised how many students understood the concept of “settling” \u00a0by\u00a0making the connection of hearing the popular phrase “settle down.”<\/p>\n

Investigation of our Smear Test: \u00a0Kindergarten scientists conducted a “smear” test with four different earth materials. \u00a0They placed a small amount of each material to see if it would make a smear or not. \u00a0Ask your child\u00a0about their findings.<\/p>\n
