Dear Families,<\/p>\n

We concluded our investigation of earth materials in science last Thursday. \u00a0The scientists were asked the driving question of what earth material would make the best foundation for a play structure?<\/p>\n

After the testing was completed, here is what\u00a0some scientists concluded:<\/p>\n

Ameena- \u00a0“Gravel and clay because they did not move at all.”<\/p>\n

Rookaya-\u00a0\u00a0“Clay did not move.”<\/p>\n

Wade- “They all stayed up but some turned a little bit.”<\/p>\n

Zoey- “The sand did not move.”<\/p>\n

Ian- “It tipped a little bit.”<\/p>\n

Gracie-“None moved at all.”<\/p>\n

Josie- “I thought the gravel would be best but the sand was better.”<\/p>\n

Here are some pictures that Wade’s mom took: \u00a0(Thanks \u00a0Wade’s mom!)<\/p>\n

Overall the student’s results varied so much. \u00a0We realized that every student had different “blowing power” so we tested the structures again while using the consistent blowing power of a\u00a0fan. \u00a0This time, we found out that gravel and sand were the best materials for the foundation for a play structure.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, the students celebrated by eating the delicious “dirt” dessert made by Ian’s mom. \u00a0Thanks so much Mrs. Carlile!!<\/p>\n

I hope you enjoy the pictures! \u00a0The students really seemed to enjoyed learning about earth science and have learned alot!<\/p>\n
