{"id":1280,"date":"2015-01-11T18:59:30","date_gmt":"2015-01-11T23:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/wrightt1\/?p=1280"},"modified":"2015-01-11T18:59:30","modified_gmt":"2015-01-11T23:59:30","slug":"week-of-january-12-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/wrightt1\/2015\/01\/11\/week-of-january-12-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of January 12, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Families,<\/p>\n<p>Hope all is well with you and your family!<\/p>\n<p>Please help me welcome Wade to our classroom. \u00a0We are very excited to meet our new friend Wade tomorrow. \u00a0He is moving to Dearborn from Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what you need to know for this week:<\/p>\n<p>Letter of the Week: \u00a0O \u00a0o<\/p>\n<p>Words of the Week: \u00a0are \u00a0 what \u00a0 do \u00a0 dog<\/p>\n<p>Monday: \u00a0Letter books will be sent home. \u00a0We are working on the O page. \u00a0Please make sure that your child writes down any sounds that they heard in the words\/pictures they have selected on their O page. \u00a0The words do not need to be spelled correctly, but at this time of the year we are expecting them to hear the beginning\/middle and ending sounds. \u00a0For example, if they glue a picture of an orange in their letter book. \u00a0Have your child say the word slowly and write down any sounds they hear. \u00a0It might be &#8220;ornj.&#8221; \u00a0Praise them for any sounds they do hear. \u00a0This will really help us during Writer&#8217;s Workshop. \u00a0Thanks for your support! \u00a0<strong>Wear gym shoes. \u00a0Return library books! \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Social Studies, we will be learning about our past. This\u00a0will be done through creating\u00a0time lines together in class. \u00a0To further learning about our own personal past, your child will be bringing home a &#8220;time line&#8221; project on Monday. \u00a0 Your child&#8217;s time line project will be due on Wednesday, January 21.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday: \u00a0We will go to the media center, music and art today!<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday: \u00a0Mad Science at 1:00 p.m. \u00a0Join us if you are available. \u00a0Please let me know as I can plan accordingly. \u00a0Thanks!<\/p>\n<p>Thursday: \u00a0Mrs. Miller will be our guest teacher today. \u00a0I will be out of the building so I can attend the Science Leadership training.<\/p>\n<p>Friday: \u00a0Return Letter books!<\/p>\n<p>Assessments: \u00a0This week I will be assessing your child in reading and math. Therefore, I will not be seeing your child in their reading group. \u00a0Feel free to continue to use Raz-Kids for Nightly Reading Homework. \u00a0As soon as the assessments are completed, I will eagerly go back to seeing my reading groups!<\/p>\n<p>Spelling: \u00a0In kindergarten, spelling starts in the third carding marking ( Monday, January 26th.) \u00a0I am looking for two volunteers who could come in for about an hour and help us with spelling. \u00a0I would need these volunteers to come in during our Daily 5 time, around 10:15 a.m. on Mondays. \u00a0Let me know if your interested. \u00a0Thanks!<\/p>\n<p>That is all for now!<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Wright<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Families, Hope all is well with you and your family!
