{"id":1136,"date":"2014-11-17T13:33:07","date_gmt":"2014-11-17T18:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/wrightt1\/?p=1136"},"modified":"2014-11-17T13:33:07","modified_gmt":"2014-11-17T18:33:07","slug":"week-of-november-17-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/wrightt1\/2014\/11\/17\/week-of-november-17-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of November 17, 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Families,<\/p>\n<p>Hope you had relaxing weekend! \u00a0Here is what you need to know for this week:<\/p>\n<p>Monday: \u00a0Letter books will come home today. \u00a0We are working in the letters L and l this week.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday:\u00a0Please return library books if you haven&#8217;t already done so. \u00a0We will go to the Media Center, music and art today.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday: \u00a0We have music today. \u00a0There are scheduled parent\/teacher conferences today.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday: \u00a0There are scheduled parent\/teacher conferences today.<\/p>\n<p>Friday: \u00a0Please return letter books today!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our literacy framework is called Daily 5. \u00a0We started the fifth component today called Word Work. \u00a0During this time, students have the opportunity to practice important sight words. \u00a0Your child needs to learn these words so they will automatically recognize them while reading. \u00a0Since there is a huge range of abilities in kindergarten, some students\u00a0\u00a0already\u00a0know many of these words while other students know just a few. \u00a0Each week your child will take home a ring of cards in their book bag. \u00a0Please practice these words at home, while we will continue to practice at school. \u00a0If your child already knows how to read these words, then have them practicing writing these words. The ring of cards will need to be placed back in their book bag each night so we can use them\u00a0the next day\u00a0during Daily 5. \u00a0We will not begin formal spelling words or tests until the third card marking, sometime in the spring.<\/p>\n<p>Week 1- Words of the Week<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>look<\/li>\n<li>I<\/li>\n<li>me<\/li>\n<li>like<\/li>\n<li>we<\/li>\n<li>can<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lunch Recess:<\/p>\n<p>At Lindbergh, we understand the importance of children getting plenty of exercise each day. \u00a0Please plan on your child to go outside for lunch recess unless the temperature is below 15 degrees. \u00a0If there is snow on the ground or grass your child needs to wear snowpants and boots in order for them to play in it. \u00a0Otherwise, students who are not wearing snowpants or boots will need to stay on the blacktop. \u00a0If your child gets wet during lunch recess, there will be no phone calls home for a change of clothes. \u00a0Please make sure your child has an extra change of clothes in their locker, in case they need it.<\/p>\n<p>As always, thanks for your support!<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Wright<\/p>\n<p>PS \u00a0Due to your generosity, our Holiday Boutique basket brought in $290, which we can spend on our classroom. \u00a0Thanks so very much!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Families, Hope you had relaxing weekend! \u00a0Here is what you need to know for this week: Monday: \u00a0Letter books will come home today. \u00a0We are working in the letters L and l this week.
