True excellence will be seen in motivated, engaged\nchildren with empowering memories of learning to read and write and the stamina\nfor independent acts of literacy. These are the children who meet high Common\nCore Standards in literacy and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excellence\nin kindergarten literacy is the vital foundation for bridging the achievement\ngap and building schools of ambitious, self-regulated readers and\nwriters.&nbsp; Experiences in the educational arts engage children\u2019s multiple\nways of learning while promoting creative and higher-order thinking; they take\nadvantage of how the young child\u2019s brain learns best. Developing social-emotional\nintelligence supports children in being successful in school . . . and in life.\nYes, we are preparing our children for the 21st century!!!&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writing\nis the key that unlocks the alphabetic code.&nbsp; So, collaboratively the\nKindergarten teachers\u2019 definition of excellence includes cooperative learning,\nrich experiences in the arts, science exploration, respectful and supportive\nparent connections, a language-intensive \u201cwriting-to-read\u201d environment,\nsystematic phonemic awareness through songs, and an explicit multisensory ABC\nand phonics immersion program within a comprehensive literacy framework.&nbsp; So please continue to work with your child on\ntheir new literacy work at home through reading their mini-books and reading to\nthem each and every day!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the desk of the Kindergarten Teachers When it comes to&nbsp;excellence, Kindergarten teachers\u2019 believe it can be best defined in the results.
