I will be working to ensure that your child will have an exciting,\npositive learning experience and will successfully finish the Kindergarten\nprogram.&nbsp; I am looking forward to working\nwith your child this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contact information:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nMiss Amanda Wentland<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can contact me by\nphone, email, or in person<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>My email address is wentlaa@dearbornschools.org.&nbsp; I check it daily and will respond promptly.<\/li><li>My phone number is 313-827-1800.&nbsp; This number will send your call to my\nvoicemail and you will need to leave a message.&nbsp;\nI will call you back as soon as possible.<\/li><li>Sign up on my blog <a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/wentlaa\/\">https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/wentlaa\/<\/a><\/li><li>I\nfeel it is important that we communicate often, but in order for me to give you\nmy full attention I can\u2019t be watching the students while talking to you.&nbsp; If you need to talk to me about your child\nplease wait until all the children have gone home for the day, or let me know\nand we can set up an appointment before ot after school or during one of your\nchild\u2019s prep classes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Arrival \/Dismissal:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Children need to be lined up by 8:00 a.m.&nbsp; Class begins at 8:05 a.m.&nbsp; If your child is late you must first report\nto the office to sign in your child.<\/li><li>The children will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m.\nfrom door #3.&nbsp; It is very important that\nyou pick your child up on time.&nbsp; They get\nvery worried when parents are late.&nbsp; Once\nyou pick up your Kindergartener you must wait outside for older siblings.&nbsp; <strong>Please\ndo not wait in the hallways for your child.<\/strong><\/li><li>Also, please let me know if your child\nwill be picked up by someone other than you.&nbsp;\nIf for some reason you need to pick your child up early you must first\ngo to the office to sign him\/her and the office will notify me.&nbsp; Please do not come to the classroom.<\/li><li>All\nchildren that are bused will ride their regular bus and be dropped off at their\nregular stop unless you notify the school in the form of a note or phone call.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Classroom Rules:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\nexpect the children to be respectful and kind to everyone in the classroom and\nschool! Please review these rules your child at home and I will do the same at\nschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Walking feet indoors<\/li><li>Quiet soft voices<\/li><li>Hands, feet, and objects to yourself<\/li><li>Wait your turn to talk by raising your\nhand<\/li><li>Follow directions the first time they are\ngiven<\/li><li>Be kind to everyone<\/li><li>Share<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\nwill be learning about our school rules throughout the PBIS-Positive Behavior\nIntervention Support plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Supplies:<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>$8 for our in class reading take home\nreading bag and classroom plastic folder.<\/strong><strong> Your child will take this home at the\nend of the year!<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Set of headphones<\/strong> in a large zip lock bag with first and last\nname on it. These will be used for computers and listening centers in the room.\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nis a list of suggested supplies. For the class to use, we would appreciate\ndonations of these items. Please pick <strong>3\nfrom the list below to donate. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY EVERYTHING <\/strong><strong>J<\/strong><strong> Bolded\nitems we really need for the entire school year!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1\nBox of thin markers<\/li><li>1\npack of glue sticks<\/li><li><strong>2 Kleenex\/Tissue boxes<\/strong><\/li><li>2\npacks of pencils (sharpened PLEASE)<\/li><li>1\npack of regular markers <\/li><li><strong>1 pack of dry erase markers<\/strong><\/li><li>1\npump soap or hand sanitizer<\/li><li>Large\nOR small zip lock bags <\/li><li>Play\ndough (4 pack)<\/li><li><strong>Clorox wipes (for keeping our school\nclean!)<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Homework:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will be sending weekly\nhomework packets home with your child on Monday and expect it returned on\nFriday.&nbsp; Please make sure to check your\nchild\u2019s backpack daily and empty out old papers that have already been\nfinished. Homework is meant to be an extra practice for your child.&nbsp; Please help your child complete it without\ndoing it for him\/her.&nbsp; You may assist\nyour child if he\/she needs help.&nbsp; It is\nNOT independent work to be done alone and it is reinforcing the skills that we\nalready learned in the classroom.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>READING: Students will be\nbringing home reading bags with materials they need to strengthen at their\nlevel. Reading bags should be a daily part of the homework. Read the contents\nevery night, even if it is a re-read. Developing an appreciation and a read for\npleasure attitude at this age is vital to reaching your child\u2019s maximum potential.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Illness:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If your child is going to be absent\nplease notify the office by phone.<\/li><li>If your child has a fever they must be\nfever FREE for 24 hours before returning to school. <\/li><li>If your child is not feeling well, has\nvomited, has a fever, please keep them at home to help reduce the spread of\nillnesses in the classroom! <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Backpacks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Every\nchild should have a backpack labeled with his or her first and last name on the\ninside.&nbsp; Please check the backpacks (and\nfolders) daily to empty out old paper and school work\/letters.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Snacks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We eat lunch very early (10:30-11:08) so\nit is very important that you send a healthy snack for your child every day!<\/li><li>We will have snack in the afternoon.<\/li><li>Some\ngood suggestions include: fruit and veggies, crackers, pretzels, etc. <strong>NO cookies, candy, or any junk food will\nbe allowed during snack.<\/strong> <\/li><li>WATER\nbottles are allowed but also well as juice will be allowed in the class-No Pop\nplease!!!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Birthdays:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If\nyou would like to bring in a treat for your child\u2019s birthday, you may drop off\ncupcakes and juice in the office in the morning. DO NOT bring balloons,\nplease!!!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Special Classes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Your\nchild will have gym twice a week. Please make sure that on those days, your\nchild is wearing gym shoes. <\/li><li>Students\nwill get to participate in Gym, Art, Music, Enrichment (computers), and Library\nCheck-out<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This\nyear we will begin week with half days and dismiss students at 11:00 am.
