Swimming is an AMAZING activity that promotes sensory integration, motor planning, spatial awareness, bilateral coordination, improved core and overall strength, and more. <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Play gross motor games<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some fun games to get the large muscle groups of the body working include <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/how-to-sneak-fine-motor-skills-into-gross-motor-play\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">building an obstacle course <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(indoors or outdoors), <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/diy-no-sew-bean-bags-plus-lots-of-fun-bean-bag-activities\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">playing with bean bags<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and playing games like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B008J87PVC\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B008J87PVC&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=brikil-20&amp;linkId=SK5BTGI5JM6AQYUB\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twister<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toddlerapproved.com\/2012\/01\/active-indoors-balloon-tennis.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Balloon Tennis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.growingajeweledrose.com\/2014\/06\/glow-in-dark-bowling.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bowling<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oneperfectdayblog.net\/2012\/05\/08\/ice-skating-in-the-living-room\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIce Skating\u201d in the Living Room<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>You canNOT play outside enough! Use tongs, tweezers, or strawberry hullers to pick up small objects for sorting, such as beads, marbles, beans, pompoms and cotton balls.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><b>Outdoor parks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are the perfect place to build <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/support-gross-motor-skills-playground-success\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gross motor skills<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.missjaimeot.com\/promoting-fine-motor-skills-playground\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fine motor skills<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/therapyfunzone.net\/blog\/developing-visual-skills-playground\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">visual skills<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sugaraunts.com\/2016\/05\/sensory-integration-therapy-at.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sensory processing skills,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and even <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourkidsot.com\/blog\/essential-social-skills-to-survive-in-the-school-playground\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">social skills<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! Kids who crave proprioceptive input and need lots of \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/40-heavy-work-activities-kids\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">heavy work<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d can work their bilateral coordination, hand strength, and core muscles as they climb ladders and <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cargo nets and play on the monkey bars. Or they can get lots of good <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spdaustralia.com.au\/the-vestibular-system\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vestibular <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">input as they slide, swing, and spin.<\/span><\/td>\n<td>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try different <\/span><b>summer<\/b><b> recipes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with your kids and involve them in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being involved in the food preparation process is not only fun for kids, it can actually be therapeutic for those who are picky eaters <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><b>Encourage independence with self-help skills<\/b><b>!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are you no longer rushing out the door to get your kid(s) to school? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Great! <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now is the perfect time to take a little longer in the mornings and encourage your child to do more of their self-help tasks on their own. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Putting on shoes or sandals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tying their shoes, buttoning, snapping<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dressing and Undressing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brushing their hair<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brushing teeth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making their own bowl of cereal, sandwich, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Age appropriate household chores <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cook up some <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/easy-homemade-playdough\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">homemade <\/span><b>play dough<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and spend some time playing playdough with your child. This is my favorite recipe\u2026 <\/span><b>https:\/\/www.the36thavenue.com\/kool-aid-playdough-recipe\/ <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experiment with making <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheknows.com\/kids-activity-center\/articles\/985845\/kids-choice-awards-recipes-to-make-slime-for-kids\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">different types of <\/span><b>slime<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.growingajeweledrose.com\/2013\/07\/sand-slime-play-recipe.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sand slime<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Make some <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/messy-play-with-rainbow-spaghetti\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rainbow spaghetti<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Create <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/happyhooligans.ca\/cloud-dough\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">soft cloud dough<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using only two ingredients. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn how to make your own bubble solution and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mamaot.com\/how-to-make-giant-bubbles\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">make GIANT bubbles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mile High Bubbles<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 cups warm water<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1\/3 cup dish soap<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1\/4 cup corn syrup<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try making different types of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.growingajeweledrose.com\/p\/homemade-paint-recipes.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">homemade paints<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
