Dear Parents,<\/span><\/p>\n

A student in your child\u2019s classroom has been diagnosed with Strep Throat, and your child may have been exposed. \u00a0Wayne County Health Department has provided the following information about Strep Throat:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Disease<\/b><\/td>\nMode of Spread<\/b><\/td>\nSymptoms<\/b><\/td>\nIncubation Period<\/b><\/td>\nContagious Period<\/b><\/td>\nContacts<\/b><\/td>\nExclusions<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Strep Throat<\/span><\/td>\nRespiratory droplet or direct contact; via contaminated food<\/span><\/td>\nSore throat, fever<\/span><\/td>\n\n

Average 2-5 days<\/span><\/p>\n

(range: 1-7days)<\/span><\/td>\n

Until 24 hours after start of treatment<\/span><\/td>\nExclude from school with signs of illness; encourage good hand hygiene <\/span><\/td>\nExclude until 24 hours after microbial therapy (antibiotic)<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

If your child develops these symptoms, please take them to your Primary Healthcare Provider for treatment. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In accordance to Wayne County Health Department\u2019s recommendations, we are asking that all children with Strep Throat remain at home <\/span>for a full 24 hours<\/b> after the start of microbial therapy (oral antibiotic).<\/b> \u00a0Any student coming back to school from <\/span>any illness <\/b>with the symptom of a fever needs to be <\/span>fever-free without the use of fever-reducing meds for a full 24 hours.<\/b><\/p>\n
