RECORDER & BAND CONCERT MAY 5: This Monday!

Once again, Mr. Gozzard (our 5th grade band teacher) will present a band concert with his 5th grade instrumentalists on May 5th (Monday) in the Howard gym.The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. 4th Grade recorders (all 4th graders) will be performing also. This gives the 4th graders a good opportunity to see what being in the school band is all about, and of course we love performing for parents 🙂

Notes with instructions for concert night have gone home. Fourth graders should report to the gym at 6:45 (find Mrs. Ventura.) We will be sitting on the floor until it’s our time to perform, so dress nicely, but comfortably! See you then!
The concert will be professionally videotaped.

Our Howard students are having fun with a student teacher in their music class this semester! Stephanie Ebaugh joins us from Eastern Michigan University. She has an associate’s degree in American Sign Language, so the students are enjoying signing as well as singing songs in class with her. She will be assisting with the 4th and 5th grade concert on February 5.
Come up and say “hello!”

Welcome to Howard Music 2013-14

HOWARD MUSIC CLASS IN ACTION!

The third graders are pictured below, in “Studios” – these are small collaborative groups, engaged in learning together. See for yourself!

Dearborn Elementary Music Teachers are using “Total Learning” concepts this year, working with Dr. Susan Snyder, who trained us in “Total Literacy” previously. Studios are something like centers, but the students work together on different “mini-projects.”
