WELCOME MS. NOBLE/PEACE DAY ASSEMBLY

Many of you met our student teacher in the music room, Ms. Sarah Noble, at Open House.  She is a student at Wayne State.  She loves musical theater and is majoring in music education and English.  She spent her summer counseling at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.  She will be at Howard Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Friday mornings.  We are happy and fortunate to have her with us!

PEACE DAY assembly will be Sept ember 20 (Wednesday) at 9:00 a.m.   The children will gather around the Peace Pole on the North side of the building – we will sing our song “Circle the Earth with Peace” and display our Peace Pinwheels that we made in art class.  Parents are welcome…duration of this event is about 15-20 minutes.

Include these steps in your video.  It’s OK to make a video for each of the steps.

  1. Clap and chant the rhythm (tah, tee-tee, etc.)
  2. Clap and chant letter names OR finger and chant letter names (singing is good, too!)
  3. Play song on recorder.

NOTE:  Once you pass PURPLE, you do not need to include the practice steps, just play your recorder.  Use the practice steps to help you learn your pieces, though!

November Composers

COMPOSE YOURSELVES!

In grades 3-5, we are studying different composers.  3rd Grade had Haydn, 4th Grade had Beethoven, and 5th Grade had Brahms.  Now we are taking things to the next level and WE are the composers – using boomwhackers and our own stick notation systems!

We had a fall/Thanksgiving theme as we continued with our composing….

3rd Graders are shown here performing their own ostinatos (repeated patterns) with poetry, and 4th graders are shown performing their own rhythmic raps.
