OCTOBER in the MUSIC ROOM

K-5 students are learning about music AND having a spookin’ good time, too.

Kindergarten:  We are learning about 4 voice types:  whisper, speak, sing & call (not yell or scream).  We are playing singing games that use our different voices.

1st – 3rd Grade are working on rhythm and beat.  We are singing also.  You will probably hear some Halloween tunes and rhythms!

4th & 5th Grade have been working on canons and partner songs in class.  We’ve been playing the Orff instruments also, adding ostinato accompaniments to our singing.

Concert dates have not been set yet, but 4th & 5th graders have a concert in February.  In March, the 2nd & 3rd graders perform a literacy-based music program.  In April, the first graders have an “informance” for their parents in the music room, and in May the 4th grade recorders and the 5th grade instrumental (band or strings) students perform.
